A gorgeous novel. Angeline Boulley weaves high stakes thriller action with ancestral indigenous knowledge (and trauma). Daunis was a protagonist that I was rooting for the whole way through.

There's so much I loved about this book! I really hope Angeline Boulley keeps writing, because I want to see what she comes up with next.

2) Has a whipsmart female athlete at the center -go female hockey players
3) Tackles a lot of tough issues confronting tribal communities
4) Strongly embraces nature
5) Love the community of elders and their support for Daunis
6) Murder mystery

The relationship stories between the women are especially poignant - I appreciate how she explores truth and lies within family and how it affects those relationships. Lies to protect can be the most insidious.
