Beautifully written and crafted world
Very romantic (platonically, familiarly, and in the truest form)
I really enjoyed this book as a whole. Whilst sometimes the plot motivations left me a bit befuddled, I still enjoyed the story tremendously

 I've read more than a few adaptations of this folktale, and I found this to be a really lovely interpretation that takes things in a different direction than expected and adds much to the story.

If you read my review for the second book, The Dragon's Promise, you'll see that I thought it might have been better served as a trilogy rather than duology to allow space for the expansion of the folktale without it feeling like two separate entities.
