I really enjoyed this book. I thought the writing was really good, the characters made you love them, and the overall story was well done. Me and my book club definitely felt like there were some places where the main characters could have made different decisions, but overall we really enjoyed where the story took us.
I definitely sped through this book; it took me very little time to fall into the story and get excited for what would happen next. Finding out this book is a duology was definitely exciting because we all felt there was more story to tell. I think the overall pacing was good, but it felt odd sometimes to spend so much time in one place and so little time in others. It just felt somewhat uneven at times.
We also agreed that some of the lore was confusing because we could not always understand why the main character was so integral. That, in and of itself, that was a critique I had because I didn't necessarily love that the main character was THE main character; it felt like she was the most important person in the world, and it would have been nice if she was just part of a greater story rather than the most important person.
The world building was excellent, and I could definitely understand all the different aspects of this country and place that we were set in. I had a great time!

This book was so good :) I don’t usually read books with this vibe but I might start now because it was way better than I had expected

Oh I love this! I'm now three out of six books down in this universe and I keep liking each one more than the last.
This was super fun! Cursed magic, dragons, magic pearls, and her dealing with not being able to speak was actually super interesting and added a layer of tension that I LOVED
