Well, this was my first Paige Toon and I'll definitely be picking up some more of them! I don't read a lot of romance, but I think perhaps I just hadn't found the right books... The writing is what really drew me in, the settings are so beautifully realised that I could picture them easily. And in particular the characters are fantastic; I'd find myself smiling reading a conversation because it had such a natural flow that I could see it all happening. Bridget's relationships, and her knowledge of Nicki's life through her notes and diaries, all develop beautifully as the book progresses. I am desperate to visit Padstow and see everything Bridget saw there!

I had a few theories about where the story would go, that kept changing every few chapters. Grief is such a delicate and personal subject and this was really sensitively handled. But there is also a sense of optimism and joy throughout, particularly in the characters' interactions. In the end I thought the conclusion was ideal for the tone of the book, even if I'd formed a few different expectations.

I read most of this one in an afternoon in the garden and finished it off last night. This is quite possibly my fave Paige Toon book that I have read so far with ‘the one we fell in love with’ in close second.

I listened to this as an audiobook and it was a pretty easygoing listen.
It’s clear where the romance is heading from the outset, which I don’t generally mind, but in this book it just felt rather staid. The main character also came across as really selfish, especially when she wouldn’t give Charlie space when he asked for it.
This came to a head at the end that was downright creepy. Alarm bells would really have been ringing if a male character had done what she’d done and it didn’t feel right.
That being said, the book as a whole was fine and nice enough to have on my in the background.

I honestly went into this book with quite low expectations. I'm not really sure why to be honest, but I'm pleased to say I actually really enjoyed this book!

Bridget, our main character, is a travel writer trying to get her own book deal. She starts a relationship blog, tracking down ex boyfriends to get the piece of her heart back they took from her, believing if she does so she will have enough closure to settle down with Elliot, her long distance boyfriend. However, when she gets offered a different opportunity she finds herself spending 8 weeks in Cornwall with widower Charlie and his young baby daughter April, and so the story unfolds.

Ok so I predicted what was going to happen within the first 100 pages but that did not spoil my enjoyment of the book in anyway. In fact I was surprised by how emotionally attached I became to the characters, they are really well written and their personalities shine out from the pages.

Bridget is warm, funny and relatable and I loved being inside her head and her heart for a while. We learn a lot about her back story and she really is a well developed character. I also loved Charlie, you can feel his heartbreak from suddenly losing his wife and a few times his raw emotion brought me to tears. April, his little baby daughter, is just the sweetest little character, perhaps I enjoyed her more than usual because I have a ten month old myself but I just wanted to pick her up and squeeze her little chipmunk cheeks.

Aside from the wonderful characters, the storyline is really strong and well written. There's lots of detail and I loved reading about Bridget's experiences in Hermie the campervan, Nicole's diaries and the trip to Thailand. The majority of the book is set in Cornwall and Paige describes it so well and makes it sound so beautiful I'm now craving a visit there myself!

This book made me feel a range of emotions I was not expecting. I've laughed, cried, and by the end my heart felt all warm and fuzzy! And talking of endings I loved this one and thought it was the perfect way to finish the book off.

Bridget is a travel journalist, something I wanted to be when I was younger but then realized that I probably needed to speak more than one foreign language. She has the ambition to turn her relationship blog into a novel, but she gets rejection after rejection.
When she's asked to be a ghostwriter of a best-selling novelist she grabs this opportunity with both hands. But after a while.. her priorities begin to change.

Although you can guess where this book is going I was pleasantly surprised by some of the events in this book. I could identify with Bridget with the writing part and I really enjoyed how the scenery was described. I recommend this to anyone who likes reading about the struggles of writing and ofcourse if you like a sweet romance.

This was my first Paige Toon novel and I'd heard great things from my fellow Bookstagrammers. I'm not usually a lover of chick-flick but I loved this one! It may have been predictable like most books in this genre but it was predictable in the best possible way. I completely connected with Bridget and felt the emotions she went through, from struggling to fight her feelings for Charlie to questioning her long-distance relationship with Elliot and her deep-down feelings about having a child. I felt every up and down and couldn't stop reading, desperate to find out the ending. I went on a journey with Bridget and it really made me appreciate the people around me. I loved the surrounding story of her finishing Nicki's book and putting her own emotions into the story. It was a joy to read and experience. I also loved watching Bridget's bond with April and was so happy with the way it ended. A beautiful touching story and I can't wait to read more from this author :)

This was a pretty average read but was not anything special. I quite liked a couple of the characters but they just seemed like caricatures at points (but other points seemed like 2-dimensional characters).

3.5*. Heartwarming and absorbing and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the characters and in the locations. Maybe it wasn't the most surprising of stories, and I'd have loved more detail occasionally - I wish we'd had more time in Thailand for example (but maybe that's because it's a particularly bleak winter in the UK and the desire to escape is strong!) - but it was exactly what I needed right now.
