Got to love a murder mysterie. De titel zorgde ervoor dat ik het boek wou lezen en het eerste hoofdstuk zorgde ervoor dat ik gelijk hooked was
Reminded me of a modern-day retelling of Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, complete with an unreliable narrator, the creepy old mansion, and a page-turning murder mystery. Fun summer read for ages 14 and up.
So what made me want to read this is because of the podcast style. (If you love that read this but 100% read dear sadie) so you known when you read any kind of mysterious you try to figure itnout the whole story. Well I thought I knew everything but it wasnt until a certain part I knew who. The one part I was like wait I was wrong I bet its ... and heck even having a guess who it was and being right. Then got hit again. Dang
the first half was 5 stars. I loved the multi perspective/dual timeline/podcast elements and the mystery was intriguing, engaging, and super twisty. But while the reveals could have been satisfying, they weren't set up very well at all. I felt like I read two different mysteries that had the same premise, but I only got half of each. So this read was a little underwhelming, but I'll definitely check out more from Kit Frick in the future.
Finished, it was okay but I wanted MORE. Didn’t get a lot of answers until the last 30 pages of the book, I wish there was more mystery peppered in the beginning.
This book had very similar themes to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, but I did not like it nearly as much. It had a lot of potential, but I felt like it fell a little short. I really enjoyed a lot of the story and most of the characters, but I was very confused by how everything worked out. I felt a little bit dissatisfied with the ending. I don't regret reading it and I'll definitely try another book from this author!
this book was really engaging and well written but the pay off was just mehhh. get the audiobook though. my quest for an incredible YA thriller continues.
Despite the fact that it starts off slow, I Killed Zoe Spanos is nevertheless a thrilling YA mystery that is a must read for fans of the [b:A Good Girl's Guide to Murder|55371143|A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, #1)|Holly Jackson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1606709806l/55371143._SY75_.jpg|63791847] series. A solid four stars.
This was a really good book. I really liked the layered mystery of it and the constant feeling that something was wrong and being hidden, much like Anna felt. Anna was a great character, both flawed and sympathetic. Her struggle in the story to find the truth about Zoe really drew me in. I liked the surprise podcast element to the story, as a big fan of true crime podcasts Zoe’s disappearance made total sense as a feature story for one. The reveals were well timed and made sense for the story.
This book really redeemed my opinion of Frick’s writing after having read one that was disappointing.
