Как новичок в мире Fiction по мотивам — довольна и приятно удивлена. Как обычный читатель впрочем тоже. Мэри Беннет открывает для себя поэзию, феминизм, Шотландские холмы и тот факт, что ей идет зеленый. What's not to like.

It would seem that Mary Bennet has inspired more than a few to ponder her story, this is not the first I have read.
Though I enjoyed listening (and it was very well read), it inspired much sadness for she was overlooked, criticised, misunderstood and made quite miserable overall. Fortunately, she was able to improve her situation...though it felt a bit drawn out to finally get there, it was lovely to revisit a classic from another perspective.

I really enjoyed this. The kind of development Mary deserves. Happy with the ending, but could have seen some merit in finishing it in a few different ways.

Good "sequel" to P&P, however wished it was shorter.

An interesting and enjoyable perspective on the lowliest of the Bennett sisters from Austen’s classic.

I've always felt bad for Mary Bennet - she did get the rough end of the stick.

This book has two halves to it - the first follows Mary's point of view of the events in Pride and Prejudice, how she behaves and the reasons that drives her to make choices she did in a way that feels honest and relatable.

The second is her life beyond that book. Jumping from one half to the other is a bit jarring at first but once you dive in its so comforting. It feels like the Author 'gets' Mary and the world she's meant to exist in.

All the characters feel like they are the same people as their Pride and Prejudice versions (for better or worse) and there are a few very sweet moments between the wretched anguish of being the middle non-beautiful sister when beauty is the only asset the Bennet sisters have.
