This book was pretty good, I just didn’t connect with any of the characters.

One of my favorite books from last year was The How and the Why by Cynthia Hand, so when I saw that she had another book coming out this year, I immediately added it to my TBR list. While With You All the Way wasn’t as good as The How and the Why in my opinion, it was still a cute and lighthearted read!

The book is about 16-year-old Ada, who finds her boyfriend cheating on her shortly before her family leaves for a vacation in Hawaii. Ada is convinced that her boyfriend cheated because she wasn’t ready to have sex with him, so when she catches her mother cheating on her stepdad with a work colleague, she is livid. Ada then uses her 16-year-old logic and decides that her best course of action is to have sex just to get it out of the way. Everyone else is doing it, so why shouldn’t she?

This book portrays Ada’s struggles and experiences in such a heartfelt and genuine way. While it tackles some intense themes, it is not really a dense or heavy read. It was fun reading about Ada’s life and watching her find her way back to her family. I would have liked some actual romance in the book, but it was not completely necessary.

Overall, reading about the ups and downs of a teen navigating family and relationship drama was actually pretty touching. Although there wasn’t necessarily anything in this book that made it particularly memorable, it was a cute story and a quick read. I definitely recommend it for anyone who is a fan of the YA or Contemporary genres!

This book was a total drama fest. It reminded me of one of those reality tv shows, in which everything that can go wrong, does. It was addictive, and drew you right into the family drama.

This book follows Ada and her family on a business trip to Hawaii. And although they’re vacationing in paradise, the events of their trip are anything but. From breakups and heartbreak, to accusations of cheating and crashed weddings, this book is a total roller coaster ride.

Part of what made this book so enjoyable was it’s similarity to a train wreck. Don’t get me wrong, it was written super well, it’s just that there was so much drama. At times, I had to put the book down, just to take a ten second break. Of course, I dove right back in afterwards. The plot sort of reminded me of The Best Laid Plans, but I actually liked this better.

Like most family dramas, every character had their own distinct personality. I loved Marjorie, who took on the persona of the gossipy aunt. Every time she showed up, I knew some serious tea was about to be spilled. I also really liked Ada and and Nick, although Ada made some comical mistakes.

I would definitely recommend this for fans of romances, especially people who loves drama. Plus, this is set in Hawaii, so there’s a healthy dose of volcanoes, sea turtles, and paddle boarding. All in all, a great book!

Book 103 towards my goal of 290! 4/5 stars for this YA Contemporary read. Great for fans of Forever by Judy Blume! Very sex focused, but not spicy. Lots of talk about sex. Great coming of age story. Love the cover, and narration was great. Not sure if I could recommend this to everyone, but I really enjoyed it.

With You All the Way is just what I like a YA Contemporary Romance to be.

Love (or is it?), drama, family issues, all the ‘usual’ stuff in a YA Romance, but also looking at sex, consent, maturity, and complex mother-daughter relationships.

It is a well-written easy read, engaging, and intriguing but without the need for a lot of brainpower to process – which was just what I needed right now! You can flow along with the plot and just enjoy.

I liked the dynamics and interactions between Ada, Afton, and their mother. Little Abby was a cute addition too. Although I guessed the twist in the story early on I still enjoyed reading it play out.

With some awkward and cringey moments reminiscent of 90’s teen movies I feel this will appeal to readers, making them laugh and empathise with the characters.

Due to some of the sexual content, I would advise it for the upper end of YA readers.

Thank you to Edelweiss+ and HarperTeen for the e-arc to review.
