I loved this series by Ms. Roth and couldn't wait until James story was written. He was important to many of the characters in previous stories and I loved the care he gave to the women who crossed his path. I really wanted him to have his happily ever after and Ms. Roth gave him a female worthy of him in Laney. Laney is quirky and funny. She is just what the serious shifter needs. She allows him to look outside himself as he courts her, even though he is supposed to be gathering intel. She sees him even before she officially meets him. I loved the chemistry that explodes between the two even as the circumstances are not ideal. I thought they fit and loved that Ms. Roth didn't make it easy for them even as they found themselves trusting in each other. I thought this was a wonderful addition to this series and am eagerly awaiting the next installment.

This is the 2nd book in the Psi Ops series, and I highly recommend reading these books in order. These books are absolutely phenomenal, and so well written and balanced out. There is plenty of action, danger, mystery and intrigue, but it is mixed well with passion, steam, and humor. If you are a fan of the Ghostwalkers series, by Christine Feehan, then you will totally love this series!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

James is back as the Medical Officer for the PSI-Ops team. He's not healing like he should after his time with the Corporation, and his powers are on the fritz. He's been chatting online with GothGirl, a hacker PSI-Ops is keeping an eye on. There's a connection there, and they decide to meet in person for coffee ... and their "date" takes a wild turn.

The psycho Dr. Bertram has been disgraced with the Corporation, and he blames James. So he sets out to reacquire James, and take out anyone standing in his way.

Lots of action in this book, and several new characters are introduced. Bill and Gus, two odd-balls who were also experimented on by the government, but they're not shifter/supernatural in the traditional sense of the world so far. There's more to them than human though. Casey, who turns out to be another Outcast ... his book is coming soon.

I unfortunately read some bad reviews of this book before reading it myself. And although I didn't agree with most of them there were some things that ran true.

James had so much backstory to tell, so much that we could have learnt about him in his book. Unfortunately if you are looking for the back story you will get a little sparkle of them but not much. I think I learnt more about Boomer and Striker than James and Laney.

I know that the author relies on you having read the previous books and it's sometimes annoying when you are told the same thing from previous book but just a slight little bit of what happened in the previous ones would have helped. Laney doesn't like the government or "The Man" as she refers to them. Does she mean the normal government, does she mean PSI, does she mean I-ops? It would have been nice to know who she is actually referring to. Then she says James is working for 'the man' and I was like say what?? What drugs you on women so would have been nice to have a little bit of filling.

Then there was the cheesey bits: 'her girly bits wanted his manly bits in a bad way. To the point they were about to beg. And her girly bits had never begged for anything in her twenty-tow years' and ' Laney's legs wrapped around his waist as if they had a mind of their own. Apparently, they were in league with her girly bits and on a mission to get her V-card punched.' This last one seconds before they were attacked by hybrid wolf-vampires.

These books could be sooo good if they focused just a bit more on the story and no so much on the 'Alpha male must find mate'. Casey, Gus and Bill in their conversation with Duke gave so much story in such a short bit of the book. I was like yes give me more and then Laney and James arrive.

This book wets your appetite but leaves you unfulfilled.

PSI-OPs and the Immortal Ops teams find themselves on the same side trying to sort out the problems created by the company. Who can they trust? They don't know and have found they have been fed lies to for many years. I have not read anything that I have not loved that Mandy as written. Her writing always leaves me wanting more and thinking about the characters long after I have finished the book.

Dr. James Hagen has been missing and off the grid for 10 years, due to a mistake he made as a member of PSI-Ops. He is rescued by the teams after being held prisoner and tortured by the corporation for a year

He is hooked to online chat with GothGirl, who is actually a hacktivist he is supposed to be using as a mark. He is still dealing with the physical (he still doesn't seem to healing as fast as he should) and psychological trauma but he has, however, started opening up to GothGirl about some of his problems.

Laney aka GothGirl is a hacker extraordinaire, with skills that are not quite human and is a friend of Dr.Mercy. Laney has files hacked from the corporation about subject p87, who was James. She has also discovered she was part of the Asia Project.

PSI-Ops is a spinoff of the Immortal Ops series. I can't recommend both series enough. These books are shorter length and great to fill in a lunch hour at work. But that does not make them fluff. They have excellent story arc and characters. The banter between James, Striker and Boomer and even with their boss, Corbin, is downright funny and reminds me of colleagues at work who have known each other for too damn long!!!

Damn you Mandy, I cannot get "the milkshake that brings everyone to the yard" out of my head!!!!!!! One ginger, Scottish, Kilted wolf is my new fictional hottie!!!! My new favourite saying is BLOODY-ENGLISH-?@:>l{@- WHO- TRIED-TO STEAL-MY COUNTRY. LOL

After dropping off the radar for 10 years, Dr. James Hagen is back in the PSI fold. His stint as a captive of The Corporation and his year of torture have royally screwed him up to the point he’s not sure he’ll ever be a productive member of the team again. Until he has a vision about a girl. When he makes contact online with a person of interest to the team and he meets up with her in person he realizes the two woman are one and the same. Not only does PSI need to know what she knows about The Corporation and which side she’s on, but James needs her more. With The Corporation breathing down their necks, can either of them survive long enough to have a shot at forever?

Can I sum up my review by saying: “Yes! This!” No? You need more? *whines* But whyyyy? Ok, ok. I haven’t read the first series, Immortal Ops, in this world. I’ve only read the first spin-off, Act of Mercy and loved it! It’s my new favorite go to series when I want a hearty laugh as well as some steamy sexiness. Nom nom! The plot is decent and the writing is lovely, but it’s the characters and humor that really sell it to me. I do love humor in my books. I don’t care if a story is a grim suspense/thriller/mystery I need some humor to balance things out. And humor is delivered here in spades. I very much look forward to going back to the beginning and starting with the Immortal Ops series. I do so enjoy when there are multiple books already out when I discover a series I love. *insert evil laugh and hand rubbing*
