I went into this book super duper excited to read one of my favorite stories that has been turned into many movies that I absolutely adored growing up.
As I began my journey, the book has everything I wanted, youthfulness, joy and hope, but as time went on we lost all of that, and it became dreary and sadly, boring. I WAS BORED OF SOMETHING I LOVED SO MUCH. That's a problem.
O f course, I love Peter Pan as a character, and Wendy is sweet as hell, but it lacked that certain something that really makes me enjoy a book. It lacked that spark, the pixie dust.
I can't say I hated this book, because their were parts I actually quite enjoyed, but overall it just wasn't for me. I mean, I'm sure there are others who agree with me.
Near the end I found myself skimming through pages, because I just WASN"T INTERESTED.
Hate on me if you want, but this book wasn't everything it should be, it had some great writing style in the beginning and it faded as I continued, and there were times were the plot didn't really move.
Tink was such a good part of the story, but even with her "You Silly Ass' lines, it couldn't make up for the sheer dreariness that is Peter Pan, the way the book is written by J.M. Barrie.

Peter Pan là một tác phẩm kinh điển của nhà văn người Scotland J.M. Barrie, kể về Peter Pan, cậu bé có khả năng bay và sống mãi mãi ở tuổi thơ. Peter sống ở Neverland, một hòn đảo kỳ diệu với những nàng tiên, người da đỏ, cướp biển, và những đứa trẻ đi lạc - các cậu bé bị lạc mất khỏi thế giới thực. Wendy Darling và hai em trai của cô, John và Michael, được Peter Pan đưa tới Neverland, nơi bọn trẻ trải qua nhiều cuộc phiêu lưu, chiến đấu với thuyền trưởng Hook độc ác và những kẻ thù khác.

Nó đặt câu hỏi về ý nghĩa của việc lớn lên và những mất mát không thể tránh khỏi của tuổi thơ.
Mặc dù vậy, sách vẫn còn một vài điểm chưa được xử lý ổn thỏa. Chẳng hạn một số nhân vật phụ chưa được phát triển đầy đủ, như những cậu bé đi lạc khác ngoài Peter Pan, khiến họ trở nên mờ nhạt và chỉ để làm nền tạo sự hào hứng của cuộc phiêu lưu nơi Neverland. Bên cạnh đó, một số miêu tả về người da đỏ và phụ nữ trong câu chuyện đã lỗi thời và không phù hợp theo tiêu chuẩn hiện đại nữa. Ngoài ra tính cách của cậu bé Peter Pan cũng khá cao ngạo và ích kỉ, xen lẫn với nhiều câu văn mang ẩn ý về sự độc ác vô tình trong tính cách của cậu khiến đây trở thành một nhân vật khá khó ưa.
Tuy nhiên Peter Pan vẫn là một câu chuyện đầy mê hoặc và sâu sắc về tuổi thơ, sự tưởng tượng, và quá trình trưởng thành. Dù đã hơn một thế kỷ trôi qua kể từ khi ra đời, cuốn sách vẫn giữ được sự cuốn hút và được yêu thích bởi cả trẻ em và người lớn.

fun classic story but they are so weird abt Wendy like how old is she why are they making her their mom instead of letting her actually get to be a kid. very anti feminist if u ask me! Also racist w the redskins obviously

"All children, except one, grow up." The one exception is Peter Pan, a boy who lives forever among the fairies in a place called Neverland. Inspired by J.M. Barrie's adventures with the Llewelyn-Davies boys, Peter Pan was first performed in 1904, and was later published as a book in 1911.
Most people know Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, and Wendy, John and Michael Darling. They know that the children are tended to by Nana, a dog, and that Mr. Darling is insistent that Wendy grow up. This prompts the children to fly away with Peter to Neverland, where they admire mermaids, fight the Redskins and battle the evil Captain Hook. But many people don't know Peter Pan the book, the adventures that don't make it into the movies. Many people don't know what happened after the Darling children returned home, or the underlying tragedy that is part of Peter's existence.
I'm not sure what it is about this book. Perhaps it's the voice of a grown man who managed to capture all the fears we have of getting older in the spirit of a cocky boy in skeleton leaves. Or maybe it's the distant sounds of a land we've visited before. Whatever it is, it draws me into this book and I can't help but follow Peter on his adventures. Told by a narrator who relishes in a fantastic adventure, Peter Pan is a magical book, a tale of pirates, Redskins, and the Lost Boys, and above all, a story about a boy who lives in the ecstasy, and tragedy, of never growing old. In this children's book, Barrie's lessons are quite mature: we can never escape the passing of time; sometimes pretending makes things real; grown-ups have fears too; childhood is a sacred place that grown-ups can never visit, or understand. In this bittersweet tale, he shows us the things that grown-ups too easily forget, and the things we can achieve if you have faith, and believe.
*A note on this edition: This a is a beautiful edition, with gorgeous artwork by the same design studio that worked on the Harry Potter films. The artwork is beautiful, and it includes 10 interactive features. Highly recommend this amazing edition!

Depois de ter relido Alice, em Novembro de 2016, achei que era altura de regressar à Terra do Nunca.
Esta edição brasileira da Zahar é fantástica, comentada e ilustrada (Francis Donkin Bedford) e com uma apresentação enorme que deve ler-se no fim de forma a evitar os muitos spoilers que lá estão. Infelizmente não encontrei em Portugal nenhuma edição deste clássico com qualidade que se assemelhe a esta.

Há quem diga que o nome Peter foi inspirado no amigo Peter Davies, há quem diga que tenha sido uma homenagem ao irmão David que morreu acidentalmente e que por isso permaneceria jovem para sempre. Controvérsias à parte Pan é o nome do Deus grego das florestas.
Peter Pan é para ser lido com a mente aberta e deixar a magia acontecer.
"- Sabe, Wendy, quando o primeiro bebê riu pela primeira vez, o riso dele quebrou em milhares de pedaços e todos eles saíram pulando, e esse foi o começo das fadas."
As personagens estão muito bem construídas. Cada uma com a sua característica e personalidade.
Ao contrário da imagem que temos, Peter Pan é um menino atrevido, arrogante e orgulhoso. Ao mesmo tempo é leal aos meninos perdidos. É o menino que não quer crescer!
Wendy é ingénua, sonhadora e carinhosa. É uma contadora de histórias.
Sininho é irrequieta, ciumenta e leal a Peter Pan.
Os meninos perdidos “são as crianças que caem dos carrinhos quando as babás estão distraídas. Se ninguém vai buscar essas crianças em sete dias, elas são mandadas para um lugar bem longe, a Terra do Nunca, para ajudarem nas despesas.”
As aventuras destas crianças são sempre acompanhadas de grandes batalhas e grandes matanças.
Os piratas e principalmente o Capitão Gancho servem para meter medo. No entanto eles conseguem ser mais engraçados do que propriamente medonhos.
Este é um livro para crianças, mas também para adultos. Afinal um pouco de magia, aventura, e sonho não faz mal a ninguém.
“Só quem é alegre, inocente e desalmado consegue voar.”

Peter Pan is one of my all time favorite stories and it had been years... Decades even... Since I had read the book. I picked it up and was welcomed back immediately, like a good friend whom you haven't seen in years but each time you talk it's like no time has passed at all, that was my day. I was back with old friends, fighting Hook, clapping for Tink, flying out the window with Wendy, Michael and John and changing my mind forever and for better. And I was so ecstatic to be back in Neverland that I devoured it all in one day. Until next time, old friend.
