Cute cute cuties!! I think there are some themes that did not have to be included,,, and the third act had me irritated in more ways than one. But overall I love Ali Hazelwood’s fanfictiony style of writing and even though this one doesn’t fall into that Reylo adjacent thing for me, I found myself eating it up all the same.

- 5 stars from me. This book is exactly what you sign up for when you read the synopsis but with a few extra layers. It had me laughing, cringing and picking my jaw up off the floor at one point. I was shocked at the authenticity of some more difficult subjects and how well the author portrayed them in a way that was relatable. Throughout I felt like I could see myself in the MFC while also being annoyed at her choices but knowing I’d probably make the same ones. Nolan was respectable and kind while also being broody which we all know is super HOT. Overall I would recommend to many of my friends as an intro book or a refresher for when you need something with a happy ending.

Pros: Ali Hazelwood, quick read, unique chess storyline, HEA
Cons: young adult audience, a lot of chess talk, trendy references, character immaturity (due to age)
Closed door romance great for those new to BRADs or younger crowd
