This was such a bizarre read. A dark comedy and not what I would usually pick up but very entertaining and actually quite touching in parts. I would describe it as a mix between Killing Eve and Fifty Shades, but notched up by a million! Despite their vices, I found the protagonists Rowan and Sloane likeable and as a couple their chemistry burned through the pages - think: the tropes "who did this to you?" "If you touch her again"/"she's mine" etc here. Definitely a page turner for me which I loved!! They're complicated characters, removing the scum of the world from the earth so it is hard to fault them at times and the book is genuinely very well written. That is not to say there are no issues - many parts were difficult to read and super questionable, it goes with the dark themes in the book so although I would criticse that in any other read, here it was part of the package so I expected it. If you like cookies and cream ice cream, don't read this and there are alot of trigger warnings which are highlighted in the start of the book by the author and otherwise on the website. That said, I managed to survive and lived to tell the tale! Not for everyone so pick wisely and those who do, hope you enjoy it too!

My summary: Rowan and Sloane share a hobby in common—they are each a serial killer who only kills serial killers. Having never met before, Rowan, the Boston Butcher, rescues Sloane, the Orb Weaver, from a cage at a murder crime scene that went wrong, when he stumbled across her while he was chasing a mark they were each apparently tracking. The chance encounter turns into an annual hunting competition, and their friendship turns into love. As Sloane and Rowan each have to face down their own demons, they have to also watch their backs from threats left in their wake.
My thoughts: This book is utterly unhinged and I didn’t hate it, not even a little bit. Very Dexter-esque vibes. It is NOT for the squeamish. This is a very, very dark, smutty, witty, absolutely insane ride of a book. Parts of it made me actually laugh out loud and parts of it made me set it down to take a little walk to get away from it for a minute. This book is all kinds of fucked up, yet somehow so over the top that it’s funny and I was completely entertained. There’s quite an exhaustive list of trigger warning in the front so if any of it is a deal breaker for you then just skip this one. But the rest of us unwell people will be eagerly awaiting the next installment of this series.

When two serial killers who kill evil people meet and fall in love, things get...messy.
Well, thank f*ck for the content warnings at the beginning, though to be honest, they partly got me to read this book as I was intrigued. This was my first dark romance, and it was a ride! I liked this book's mix of funny and disturbing, which probably says something about me.
The writing was a bit too descriptive at certain points for my ability to visualize things vividly, so be warned if you can also create very vivid pictures in your mind while you listen!
Overall it was enjoyable if a bit graphic and I mostly liked the main characters! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

 Narrator Rating- 5 stars
Both narrators did an excellent job! You could tell they put production money into the audiobook!

There's not much to say about this book. It was a fun time, but nothing crazy. The gore wasn't too graphic in my opinion. I liked the first half better than the second half. I do wish the author distributed the smut evenly in this book. You don't get it for the first 65% or so and then it just starts going ham on you in the last 30%. I don't mind smut in books but it felt so out of place.
The word "cock" is used wayyyy too many times in this book. Also, I'm not really into overly possessive guys in the bedroom. The things he was saying weren't doing it for me personally. I had to suspend my disbelief because Sloane was made out to be this ruthless serial killer and yet she always submitted to Rowan. Like I know that's a thing. Of course, a woman who's dominant in her personal life can be submissive in her sexual life, but I think this sex trope is just overdone too many times. I quite frankly enjoyed their last sex scene where it was the both of them "torturing" each other. Honestly, I'm just tired of reading overly dom men. Like, be more creative!🤦🏾‍♀️😒 Also it annoyed me to no end how she was portrayed as this ruthless serial killer but often needs saving by Rowan.
The characters were fun but don't expect much depth with them or the story. It's just a story where you have to suspend your disbelief for a lot of things because a lot of things don't make sense.
We never found out why Rowan was in that room where Sloane was caged at the beginning of the book
Overall, it's an okay read. Nothing special. Loved Sloane and Lark's friendship in this book! (also that this book is most definitely "insta lust")

Spice Rating:🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

*note: The audiobook for this story really sets the mood for the book; I think it's a dramatic audio. If you really want to feel like you're in the story I recommend it.

I guess I have a morbid sense of humor because I really enjoyed this book about serial killers falling in love! I really liked these characters and how they were totally normal (except for how they liked to kill serial killers for fun). It was refreshing to read about flawed people who were still likable and whose big issues were almost understandable (even though I don’t think I would ever kill someone). A lot of the serial killer aspect of this book is gruesome so be warned. I also liked how their relationship evolved overtime and their chemistry. I read this book so quickly because I just couldn’t put it down and had so much fun with it. The only things I didn’t like were the excessive language, the cringey terms used during spicy scenes, and I also found that this book was a bit too spicy for me. It went into a lot of things I don’t typically like in my romance (dom-sub, kinky stuff, etc.) so that just wasn’t for me. I appreciated that the characters utilized safe words but their interactions sometimes made me uncomfortable personally. The twist in the end was one I saw coming just before it happened which was fun, but I also hated how Rowan handled that confrontation at the end. I’m looking forward to the next book!
