After my success with the last book I was so excited to pick this book up and continue with the adventure that was unfolding. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. Book 4 (the last book) was supposed to be the start of a new trilogy within this series. But that book was still continuing with the story from the previous 3. This book just left that story dangling and completely opened a new story with new characters. So now we have two ongoing stories that are kind of connected. Also, for a book about Mother Gothel, she was barely in this book. So many other characters like Mrs. Pickle ( no I’m not kidding that was her actual name) were introduced with no significance and had a point of view in the story only to be killed with no consequence. This book is so far the longest book and the series and most of it was unnecessary. I would much rather another book be longer than this one because all the other ones are building to something and this one just did nothing. 400 pages of nothing important to the overall plot of this series.
Didn’t really care for the sisters and wasn’t a fan of the writing style.
I keep trying, and trying, and trying with these books but they really are horrid. I mean, I guess they are okay for children's books? But some of the writing and themes suggest they are too much for children....? But like, the writing is soooo juvenile. I've READ actual children's books that didn't have dialogue or descriptions that were so stiff, simple, and boring.
And the storyline, the reasons why Mother Gothel is the way that she is, her background, and "alternate plotline" that apparently happens behind the scenes of the real movie, is just way too much. I don't even know how many times I rolled my eyes. I literally forced myself to finish this book.
Will I read the final book? Probably. I guess I've come this far. I'm morbidly curious as to how it will all end. Will I regret it? Definitely.

You can see all my reviews here: Books Are The New Black
I have all of these books now. The first one I read, Fairest of All: The Wicked Queen, I didn’t love. Unfortunately, I do not own that one in hardcover. I normally don’t mind what type I have but these books are AMAZING in hardcover!!
Anyways, I went into this book with really low expectations. The reviews on these books all around aren’t the best. I just love Disney so much and have to push through. Luckily, I really enjoyed this one!
It could be that I haven’t read/watched a thousand renditions of Gothel’s story/remake. This story is so heartbreaking. I really flew through this book because I had to know what happened next. I was just so into the plot and needed to know how this story was going to unfold. Even though, I’ve seen Tangled and kind of know how it ends, I really enjoyed the way we get there. It’s so much more sinister than I imagined.
I was actually surprised that I liked it so much because it is very creepy. I had no idea! I read this one out of order, on accident. I needed an “M” for a challenge and didn’t realize they had to be read in order. I did have some issues with some of the plot points but now it makes sense. There’s a whole story being put together and they do need to be read in order. Don’t make my mistake! haha.
I did find it odd that there were SO many exclamation points! Really, it feels like they are just constantly yelling. Turns out… lots of people noticed that too.
Overall, I enjoyed this and I can’t wait to read the others. I went in with REALLY low expectations and that could have some influence on that.

INHALT:
Super!
This has to be my least favorite of the villain books so far. At first the odd sisters were just that, odd. They occasionally came in and stirred some trouble but they seem to take over the villain story and cause the villains their doom? It’s insanely annoying because for awhile you seem to route for the villains and only have them fulfill their prophecy as horrible people because the odd sisters make selfish decisions that end in their turmoil.
Also, am I the only one who got annoyed with the amount of !!!! In this book? Not even halfway through, and I was already getting annoyed with the sentence structure. Usually I’m a fan of this series, but this was a little too much for me.
I did enjoy Gothel’s story and how she came to be. It was an interesting story. I enjoyed watching jacob care for her and help her along. The ending was a bit rushed in my opinion. The stolen princess story line was pretty much wrapped up in 60 pages.
I find myself routing for the villains these days. Is it because I’m getting older and more cynical? Or maybe because of the mayhem in the world? Honestly, the real villains these days are the odd sisters. Could that be what Valentino is trying to tell us? Quite an interesting theme if that’s what she is going for. I do enjoy her imagery and story building. It balances out the weird conversational structure.

Thank you so much to Scholastic Aus for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review!
I throughly enjoyed Mother Knows Best. I was a bit sceptical going in because Tangled is one of my favourite Disney movies so I desperately wanted to enjoy Mother Know Best and it did not disappoint! We learn Gothel’s origin and how she became to be the way she is in the film and we get an understanding of why she is obsessed with the flower. I thought the pacing was good, albeit a little slow at times. I enjoyed Gothel’s character arc to. The Odd Sisters of course make an appearance but they didn’t make me as angry in this book as they have in others! I definitely recommend this book to those who love Tangled!

I want to know more about Mother Gothel, not these annoying Weird Sisters. It had made it so there is so little focus on the villain and only on these characters that no one seems to like.
