This book is a follow on from the beautiful creatures series. It follows ridley and link as they go to new York as everyone else goes off to college. Abraham is dead but gets Lennox to exact his revenge he wants them all dead. The book is slow paced and ends on a cliff hanger but is just as great as the beautiful creatures series.

As someone who read this book because I was really interested in the dynamics of Ridley and Link, it was a bit disappointing.
The story didn't have much about Link and Ridley. Although, I did enjoy the plot, I found it odd. I will likely read the sequel but not have as high expectations as I did for Dangerous Creatures.

I'm afraid I ship Nox/Ridley more than Link/Ridley... The latter is cute and all but when Rid is with Nox you can literally cut the sexual tension with scissors. And they clearly have a love-hate relationship going on and would obv make a power couple and ugh the ship has sailed. I may be biased because of my Slytherin self though. Both of them are seen as cold and evil in the eyes of other (basic) Casters, but deep down they're very sensitive and have had dark pasts. Link and Rid complete each other, but I feel like Mr. Gates is more suitable for a powerful Siren. And to top it off, he's the Barbardos guy.

I really wanted to give this book 4 stars. Because its a spin off of one of my favorite YA series. But the fact is this, the author completely changes Ridley Duchannes. The character I read in this book did not have the same personality that was shown in Beautiful Creatures or from any of the series. This was a new Ridley, someone who was insecure and wasn't ever sure of who she was. I'm sorry, but it was not the same person I had read and loved. I enjoyed the story for what it was and I will read the other books. But my thoughts will never be of the same person, it will be this new character that she decided to create for spin off.

I also had a problem with the characters lack of knowledge of today's day to day life and technology. Ridley was not asleep for 500 years and awoke to a world of new technology and so on. She was raised around the mortal world and acted like she didn't know how to use a cell phone, didn't know what a tablet was, and so on. It just did sit well with me. I understand characters that are magical and live in a magical world that does not reflect what the mortal world looks like. J.K. Rowling did an amazing job showing that. But Kami missed the mark completely and really just made Ridley look even stupider.

The book was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it for what it was. I just wish their had been more and the author had stayed true to Ridley.

YAY! I finally got the book! I can finally read the series that became a thing because to the caster chronicles! YYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYY!

Dangerous Creatures has Link moving to NY to get a new band together. Ridley, of course, goes with him but not to support her boyfriend. Nope, she's running away and trying to hide from a dark caster, Nox, who has two marks on her. Lucky for her.. he wants Link for one mark. Unlucky for Link I guess.

Okay, so before I got this book (which was free) I didn't really like Ridley in the previous series.. so I honestly didn't have high expectations for this book. Continuing with that little bit of knowledge, given by yours truly, I still don't like Ridley. Color me shocked people! She was just annoying throughout the whole thing. I knew she was a twat in the Beautiful Creatures Series but hot damn woman! Now I just didn't dislike Ridley.. no I didn't like Link either. I think I maybe liked him for like a hot second in the first series.. but yeah.. no .. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY NOW. His music was terrible and the entire time I was thinking.. don't quit your day job which sadly was.. his music. I kind of wish I just got more Lena and Ethan in this book.

Then there's Nox, the bad guy I guess.. who just did absolutely nothing for me. I didn't really care for his character or what he wanted throughout the book. In the end, I just don't think any of the characters, story line, twists, or anything was for me. I guess I'm happy I tried it out to see if I would end up liking this new series.. but I didn't which makes me sad. I'll probably just stick with it just to torture myself because there's only like two books left and one is a novella.

Pray for me.

This was a good introduction into this side story. I still prefer the main series, but maybe the second book will sway me. still a fun read.

I was so excited to know that Link and Ridley were getting their own series. My two fav characters from the Caster Chronicles getting their own spin-off.

However Dangerous Creatures fell a bit flat. While I still enjoyed it, it didn't grab me as I hoped it would.

It felt rushed at some points with the last 50ish pages just eager to wrap it up.
I often got confused to whose perspective I was reading. While Ridley was the main perspective, often it took me a page or two to realise that the perspective had changed to Link or Lennox.
Characters relationships, particularly Ridley and Lennox, felt like it did a massive 180 in one paragraph that I'm still not sure entirely how it happened.

This spin-off is for the big fans of the Caster Chronicles, with many references to characters and plot points to the 4 books of the Caster Chronicles

But that ending though
