4.5⭐️ this book was so cute! 💕 perfect for all the broadway lovers out there. i adored following rosie on her journey of self-discovery—from feeling unsure to becoming a woman who knows her worth. her transformation was beautifully done.

i was completely obsessed with her relationship with booker 😍. he knew exactly what he wanted—rosie, in all her quirky glory.

the theatre setting might’ve been my favorite part! i felt like i was right there in the middle of casting and backstage antics. it was magical.

also? the side characters stole the show. i fell in love with every single one of them—especially arthur! this book honestly made me want to retire somewhere just like this whimsical place.

💫 a phenomenal book by courtney walsh—i’m officially a fan!

🎧 jorjeana marie was rosie. she captured her vulnerability and inner monologue beautifully. while i wish there was more variety in her character voices, but the emotion she brought to rosie made up for it.

I love the characters that Courtney Walsh writes. They are just so sweet and funny and relatable. I love Rosie, Arthur, Bertie and Daisy. I loved how Rosie found herself along the way with the help of her friends that she didn't know she needed.  🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The sweetest story about finding yourself and what it means to chase your dreams.

Rosie Waterman has been trying to make it as an actress in New York, but it's been one failed attempt after another.  When she finally gets an offer for a job, she takes it, even though it's temporary and as a part of the creative team.  But this job is...not what she's expected.

This was such a sweet read!  I loved Rosie and how fun and quirky she was.  As someone who enjoyed doing theater in high school, I really liked the theater aspects of the story.  And her journey to find joy and purpose in life was inspiring.

What really shined in this novel, though, were the side characters.  There were so many, and they were all a delight!  Arthur and Bertie were my favorites, with Dylan close behind.

Some of the microtropes:
⭐️ quirky side characters
⭐️ feisty old ladies
⭐️ dramatic, but loveable teen
⭐️ line dancing
⭐️ Friday questions that have to be answered truthfully

When your “big break” turns out to be directing Cinderella at a retirement home… but somehow, it’s exactly what your heart needs.

“It’s just life.”

In true Courtney Walsh fashion, this was the kind of feel-good, female-centered story I didn’t know I needed until I was knee-deep in quirky chaos and community theater.

Rosie Waterman’s dream of becoming a working actor has hit a dead end. She’s lost her job, her apartment, and—let’s be honest—her confidence. So when she accepts a directing gig in Door County, Wisconsin, she’s not expecting much. After all, it’s not New York… and her “regional theater” cast? It turns out they’re residents of a retirement community with zero acting experience and a whole lot of opinions.

But this story had me grinning from ear to ear. Rosie’s personal growth was heartfelt and genuine, but it was the supporting cast of cranky, lovable seniors that completely stole the show. I could read an entire spinoff about them!

The theater backdrop brought such warmth and joy, and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever read another book that centers on the experience of putting on a community play. It felt fresh, funny, and deeply human.

Audiobook Review: ☆☆☆☆
I chose to read this with my eyes and then also started listening to it through Libro.FM. The narrator, Jorjeana Marie, did a good job with this one! There were times that her voice acting leaned more towards a childish cadence but other than that it was a fun listen!

This is a review of the audiobook.

This was my first Courtney Walsh book so I had no idea what to expect. When I first started this book, I wasn't sure I was going to like it. It seemed to have a similar plot to a book I had recently read but I was pleasantly surprised.

Rosie is so enthusiastic, optimistic and full of sunshine and seems like the exact type of person who would accept a job she knows nothing about. And the grumpy MMC being described as a mixture of Scott Eastwood and Glenn Powel makes me wish this man actually existed so I could get the full effect of his hotness. (Chloe, if you're reading this, please find a way to make this happen, for scientific reasons of course.) This was also one of the best portrayals of grumpy x sunshine I've ever read and this trope has now moved up a spot on my favorite tropes list.

I didn't love or hate the narrator but Jorjeana Marie did a great job of bringing life to Rosie's character. I would definitely listen to another audiobook read by her though.

This is my second book I have read by this author and absolutely loved it. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The care of people were wonderful and enjoyed all their personalities and quirks . It’s a story of friendship, love and dreams attained even if not the original plan
