such a good book and when you read her acknowledgements page and her own story, it puts the entire story into perspective as well. one may think or take the character voices as stereotypical but really, what is stereotypical about it? it takes place in 1960's Jackson, Mississippi. It's country. itshe didn't make the characters 'steteotypical' beyond that, in my opinion. rather, she made believable women, believable people with depth, hopes, aspirations, love, and hate. it's something i will always appreciate in a book.

Set in a time that none of us can really know firsthand, The Help portrays a side of the story that is rarely heard. I love the courage, bravery and sacrifice of Abileen, Skeeter, and Minny. Very thought provoking! I found myself rooting for Skeeter and Celia to become friends. They seemed to have kindness in common. So good!!!

This was an interesting story. I loved the use of the three different narrators and a new viewpoint (at least for me) of the civil rights movement. I did not appreciate all the language, however, nor one scene that just was too crass for me. (I get what the author "needed" that scene for, but really?) That being said, I think the story is one worth reading.

Wonderful novel that reinforces that we are all just people. Interesting story in that it interweaves the lives of women in Jackson at the beginning of the civil rights movement. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I read this for our April bookclub meeting and I was a little reluctant. Books with so much hype usually leave me...well...meh. Not this one. I was expecting a fluffy southern drama and what I got was a glimpse into the Jim Crow 1960's. More edge than I expected.

This book was wonderful! I would recommend it to everyone.
