Even though I’m not a fan of Strictly Come Dancing, having never watched an episode of it, I was still drawn to this book as overall it sounded a fun and light hearted read and it didn’t disappoint.

We meet thirty seven year old Maggie, a doctor who is bringing up two daughters on her own after getting divorced. Every week, Maggie and her daughters get together with Maggie’s best friends, sisters, Alice and Sarah, to enjoy watching the Strictly Come Dancing show on telly. I have to say I love Alice and Sarah as well as Maggie’s daughters, Penny and Tabby. They are all so lovely and couldn’t help finding Penny and Tabby especially adorable.

Seb is a good deal younger than his sisters Alice and Sarah at only twenty seven years of age but that doesn’t stop him instantly falling for their lovely friend Maggie. Whilst Strictly is definitely not his sort of thing, he starts joining his sisters and Maggie on a Saturday night to get closer to Maggie. Seb is an absolute dreamboat! Good looking, hunky, young, what more could a woman ask for? I love how much he takes in about Maggie and her girls and is very in tune with them, much to Maggie’s resistance as, even though she is attracted to Seb, she finds it hard to overcome the age gap between them.

Strictly Come Dating is much more than a romance novel. It’s about doing what makes you happy and not letting what others think stop you from going after what you want. There was the perfect balance of romance so that it was believable and not cringy. There is a lot of humour also throughout and by the end I was grinning like a Cheshire cat. Wonderfully uplifting, incredibly sweet, I loved every bit of this novel!

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Since I finally found the time to dive into Strictly Come Dating, I will say that this was filled with all kinds of cuteness. In it, you will meet Maggie who is about 37 years old and a single mother of two girls. Just like all recent divorcees, she definitely has some insecurities that she is dealing with. So every weekend, she gets together with her best friends and watches 'Strictly Come Dancing.' Which reminded me of 'Dancing with the Stars' and I used to be obsessed with that show.

So when Seb walks into her life, well sparks definitely flew. Even though he was 10 years younger than her. To me? Well, age is just a number when you are an adult. So if a 40 year old and a 30 year old want to get together and make babies - then by all means, you do you boo boo. I don't feel the same way if it's like a 30 year old and a 16 year old. Sorry, not sorry.

As for the romance, it was a slow burn for sure. Which can go one way or another with me. For this book, it definitely worked just because I knew that Maggie was going through some things and she didn't think Seb was going to stick around.

Luckily for them, and me, they got closer and closer and I approved all of it. I loved them together and there was nothing that was going to change my mind about them. I'm very happy that I got the chance to dive into this and falling in love with some awesome characters.

My new favorite Kathryn Freeman book. 4.5/5

Organized Maggie has two small children, an ex-husband who ruined her confidence, and a younger man that won’t stop flirting with her. And did I mention that younger man, Seb, is her best friend’s younger brother?

Maggie has always loved to dance, but her ex-husband never wanted to go dancing with her nor did he want her to go alone - so she stopped. That is until she gains the confidence to go after a push from her friends. After overhearing about the lack of men at Maggie’s dance classes, Seb decides to join the classes to get to know Maggie a bit better. Will these opposites attract?

I loved all of these characters. Seriously. Maggie, Seb, Tabby, and Penny were all wonderfully developed. The book made me laugh out loud in multiple places, and I found myself grinning like a crazy person while reading.

Thanks so much to NetGalley for the ARC - it was an unexpected surprise!

Settling down to watch Strictly Come Dancing with her two children, their nanny and her friends Sarah and Alice has become a Saturday night tradition. Especially since her marriage ended three years ago. Maggie loves to watch the dancing and spend time with her friends.

One Saturday, there is an interruption to their usual viewing party when Seb, Sarah and Alice's younger brother gatecrashes. Tall, blonde, tanned and handsome, he notices Maggie straight away. Although she is 10 years older than him, there is something about her that draws him to her.

Over the weeks he joins them again and again to watch the show (spending most of his time watching Maggie). Starting dancing lessons Maggie hasn't found a suitable dance partner when Seb volunteers. She declines, yet he turns up anyway and the chemistry starts to grow between them.

Can this really work? He's only back in the UK to help his dad following a heart attack. She has responsibilities, not to mention the age gap. A funny and charming read, discovering that age can be just a number of you let it.

Omg this is probably one of my favourite books now!!! I know the title sounds cheesy, but it's so cute and i love it. What I loved about this book is that it's not your typical enermies to lovers where the woman is young sad and poor, vs the older rich successful man. Instead it was an a successful woman with two young kids and a younger guy who isn't a billionaire. Also the kids are adorable and I love them.

THE EPILOGUE!! It was adorable 😭😭

Large age gaps do creep me out a little. But I get how the older you get, the less it matters. Regardless, I think double digits is a little weird, like you were going through puberty while the other was still in diapers (or vise versa).

However, Seb and Maggie somehow make it work. The “opposites attract” would usually give me the ick, especially with the age gap but it sorta worked. Maggie is Type A, while Seb has no plans. Maggie is the one who had to grow up fast, while Seb was the baby of the family. It was nice to see them balance each other out without having to change the essence of themselves.

THIS WAS WAS SOOOOO DAMN FUN.
Maggie’s spark is gone, broken down by her ex Paul. She’s a 37-year-old single mother of two adorable little girls, she no longer dances, vicariously lives through the show Strictly come dancing, enchanted by their grace and elegance. Then comes Seb, 10 years younger, brother of Maggie's 2 BFF, super fun, charming and hot, who’s traveled the world to find his purpose and now is back to help his parents. And with him sparks definitely flew.
The age gap??? Well, age is just a number when you are both adults. So if a 37 year old and a 27 year old want to get together and make babies - then by all means, go for it.
The slow-building romance between Maggie and Seb is so sweet! (I think he fell first for Maggie’s kids) They didn’t rush into a relationship, which I loved, and Seb really cared and respected Maggie’s daughters. I also like that they don’t try to change each other. Maggie’s ex-husband squelched her identity and mocked her interests, and it was adorable how supportive and accepting Seb is. He gives her back the confidence that her ex took from her, especially when he becomes her dance partner!

This is a sweet story with a slow-building and charming romance. I love the themes of friendship, family, and embracing life.
