Ugh I really wish I had read some reviews before reading this book. An 8 year breakup?!?!? I really, really needed a warning for that. The first part was going so well and then BAM. Devastated. If you're into emotional rollercoasters and epic breakups and lots of angst, you'll love this book. I want none of those things, so despite the amazingness of the first part of this book the second part of the book knocked off two stars from my rating.

Also fair warning: all of the books in this baseball series have devastating breakups. I tortured myself through 4 of the baseball series books (ugh. so. much. torture.). The third book (The Lineup) had the least devastating breakup of the ones I read.

Clearly Meghan gets some credit for keeping me interested enough to read 4 of her torturous books, but I won't be returning to this series. I'll stick to her lighthearted romcoms.

Megan, why didn’t you rate this book? I know you are probably wondering. Well....

DO NOT GET ME STARTED on this book.

The first 27ish chapters are PURE GOLD. Amazing and funny and swoon worthy. 5 plus stars people. Y’all need this type of fictional love and adoration in your life. YOU NEED IT. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Yassssssss 😍😍😍😍

Then the utter bullcrap happens. Complete and utter you have got to be kidding me I stayed awake to read this crap and this is what happens I am going to murder this book happens. I lost my mind. LOST MY MIND. If I could reach into a book and throat punch, vagina kick body slam a female “lead” I would have IN A HEARTBEAT. Seriously. Like my hands are shaking I am so mad. KNOX IS A BETTER MAN THAN YOU DESERVE YOU SORRY EXCUSE FOR A FICTIONAL WOMAN. Ugh. That part of the book gets a solid .02!!!!!! It doesn’t even deserve one full damn star. Yeah, I said it. NO STARS. Her decision is crap. Her reasoning is a bunch of immature hogwash and she is full of crap from crap creek. Bam. Take that. I hate her. I am glad she’s not real.

I am not salty. Clearly.

If you read this, stop at chapter 27 and then skip to the epilogue. Just trust me.

per my spreadsheet:

i cried in public.

I hated the ending but I really liked the book as a whole.

spice 🌶  - a 4 🌶  spicy (romance.io scale)
length - just right
reading speed - read in 1 days
did it make me cry? - in public. at the airport. in front of people. it was embarrassing.

Do not waste your time with this book. I am so mad right now. This book started out as a 3 or 4 star read for me that it absolutely blew up after the 85% mark.
Spoiler The whole first half of the book the main characters were together, building a relationship and building trust. Then at 85% the FMC broke up with the MMC for a dumb reason, strung him along, and then they stayed broken up for a time lapse of 8 YEARS. Then the 9% of the book covers the span of a 12 hour period where they run into each other again, hook up for the first time, and decide that they want to be together forever. It was like the author decided to make it a second chance romance, but the problem is that in order for a second chance romance to work, it needs time for the characters to explore and heal from the reasons it didn’t work out the first time. This one did not do that at all. Not to mention the book is called “The Locker Room” and it spent the whole time building up to the MMC taking the FMC to the locker room because, according to lore, that means that they will be together forever AND THEN DOESN’T EVEN GET TO IT UNTIL THE EPILOUGE. WHEN THE CHARACTERS ALREADY HAVE COMMITED AND HAVE A CHILD TOGETHER.
Excuse the rant, I think I am just doubly upset because this book was supposed to be my (much needed) Friday night fun read and it did not serve what was advertised.
