Jaime's Review
I absolutely love the way that Katie McGarry tells a story. It's so easy to get lost in the characters and their journey while reading one of her books. I like that she writes a more mature version of YA without making the characters too adult, too experienced and too wise beyond their years.

The only thing that kept me from absolutely loving this book was the whole premise of the MC. I don't normally read MC books because I struggle to understand the point of the secrecy, blind trust and borderline misogynistic attitudes of them. Even more so those clubs that claim to be law-abiding. This happened to be the case this time around, I didn't understand why everyone in town feared the club and thought they were capable of various criminal activities, including murder, and yet some high school athlete wasn't afraid to cross them.

Actually most of the conflict in this story felt a little blown out of proportion. The hate and vitriol coming from some of Breanna's siblings was beyond comprehension for me and don't even get me started on my thoughts about her parents.

However, I was rather invested in Razor/Thomas' search for the truth about his mothers death and how the MC may or may not have been involved. My favorite thing might have been the way that Razor questioned the club and their trustworthiness. I guess the whole blind brotherhood doesn't work for me.

So basically it comes down to a personal issue with subject matter that lowered this book to 4 stars for me. Beyond that, the writing is spectacular and the character development is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to pick up more books in this series because, even having a dislike for MC romances, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.

“For once in my life, I'd love to be myself around everyone else and be accepted for who I am instead of staying silent for fear of people mocking me.”

The first book was about Oz and Emily. This one is about another couple
SpoilerRazor and Breanna
. And, now that I've read the sneak preview, I know the third one is about the other couple
Spoiler Chevy and Violet
.

I didn't know I could care so much about this character. I was hoping his love story would be as good as the first book's love story. Thomas is a complicated character in the beginning. But you quickly learn why and I fell for this story just like with the first book.

This book almost made me cry. I had to try really hard not to. There are paragraphs in here about not fitting in, going quiet by choice and family love that I almost shared everywhere cause they're so true to me.
Amazing romance too. I'm loving this trilogy so much.

SpoilerI kind of new the third one would be about Violet and Chevy, cause this trilogy seems to be about the whole gang so it was only fair to have their story too. I was hesitant to the idea. But after reading this book and seing Razor under a different light, I'm sure I can love the last book in this trilogy as much as the first two.

Audiobook

I enjoyed this much more than the first in the companion series. There was a theme that I thought was a little over done, but I found myself invested in the mystery and relationship.

i absolutely adored this, one of the best books i've read recently. god it was so good and i loved Breanna and Razor and their love is so beautiful and real and they'd do anything for each other and i wished this book would never have ended because i just wanted to keep reading about them.

I really really loved Breanna. Maybe one of my favorite of Katie's heroines.

Thank you to the publisher for sending me an eARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I died. Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry killed my emotions–in the best way possible. I feel like it’s been so long since I’ve read anything other than sweet and sexy contemporary romance–that I was overwhelmed with all of the feels (and I mean ALL OF THE FEELS) I experienced while reading Walk the Edge.

Katie McGarry has written an intense, angst-filled, passionate YA romance that I already want to read again! If you read the first book in the Thunder Road series, Nowhere But Here, then you have already been introduced to the Reign of Terror–a community of brothers, a community of protectors, a family. A family who happens to ride motorcycles and has a less than stellar reputation around town. To outsiders, they appear to be more than just the bad boys–they’re seriously dangerous.

But as a reader, you learn that is not the case. In fact, the only danger that Thomas “Razor” Turner presents to our heroine, Breanna, is a danger to her heart. Can two youths from opposite sides of the track overcome the obstacles placed in front of them in order to be together? Why yes, yes they can. Which is why I love this book so much! Breanna and Razor posses an immense amount of strength–both as individuals and as a couple. They don’t run away from their problems, they run towards them, ready to face them head on. If I was in their positions, I don’t know that I would have been able to hold on to my will of strength as long as they did.

I mean, we are dealing with some heavy stuff here. Bullying, depression, death. It’s all heavy, but Katie McGarry writes about it all in such a beautiful way that you can’t help but be inspired by the struggle and the journey she weaves. My heart hurt anytime Razor thought about or talked about his mother. His pain and his anger was also my pain and my anger. I just wanted to go back and hug the little boy he once was. I was glad that Breanna was there to do it for me. She helped Razor find his answers and helped him heal.

Breanna. I’m in awe of how normal and caring she was when she wasn’t being cared for herself. Even though she was surrounded by a large number of siblings and two parents–she was pretty much alone. I found her family to be absolutely horrid (the young ones were okay). I don’t care how much you have going on in your professional lives or how many other children you have that need your attention–when you have a child literally crying out to you for help–you do not brush them off. I was glad that Breanna could come to an understanding of sorts with her family (especially Cara), but it’s clear that they still have a long road ahead of them.

Luckily for Breanna, she has Razor to lean on. Together, they are perfect because they are perfectly imperfect–if that makes sense. Their connection and their chemistry jumps off the page and wiggles its way right into your heart. I was rooting for them the whole time. Their trust in each other was admirable. Their gradual fall into love was beautiful. There were so many conversations between the two that gave me goosebumps because of the intensity of their love.

If you want to read a story that will hit you right in the emotional gut, then Walk the Edge is perfect for you. It’s a truly powerful read, and it’s definitely worth your time and your dollassss. Holla.

I look forward to the Thunder Road books to come!

Note: I read this book without reading the first one of the series, and I was able to follow along with no problems.

OOOOoooooooo this is gonna be good

Clearly Breanna's parents are the real villains in this story. I loathe them. Truly. I continue to find the idea of this motorcycle club baffling and often distasteful. And there are a lot of side plots and characters that were left unresolved. Presumably for future books?

That said, I loved Breanna and Razor individually and as a couple so much. They communicate with each other and work towards honesty instead of drama. It was amazingly refreshing. They both grow a lot through this book and I was so proud of them by the end.

I'm very curious to see what happens when Violet finally gets her book next. That girl needs a hug.
