I had read a few reviews before reading Method 15/33, so I knew not to expect a realistic novel. At least, that's the only way I could read this, by just considering it fiction and not trying to find a "real" diagnostic for the main character. But as long as you just go along for the ride it's a fairly quick read, quite entertaining and captivating. I must admit that I barely skimmed the last chapter, and in retrospect I sort of wish I had skipped it altogether. The last chapter is completely unnecessary, an epilogue told 17 years later. And it left a very bad taste in my mouth...

I liked this book, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The summary was intriguing, and the author did not let me down. It was quick read and a page turner. The plot and each scene/activity was well thought out and I enjoyed being surprised by how it actually played out. Lots of promise with this author.

A few points for improvement: There were a few too many "extraordinary" people, but they were all well presented and thought provoking to consider. Some of the peripheral information was not well researched, but nothing the average reader would notice. (example: knitting unravels quite easily. It takes weeks to knit a blanket, but it could be pulled out in less than an hour. Same with crochet, depending which end you began unraveling. it would be slow going from the beginning, but quick from the end.)

The baseline plot of the book was really good. I would have enjoyed an entire book of this plot. However, a backstory to each point made in the book was inserted at very frequent places, making it a jerky storyline that just didn't hold my interest.

I liked many aspects of this. It was different from any other story of its kind that I have read, and I highly enjoyed reading from the main character's perspective. I like the way it framed itself as a selection of coincidences that came together to become something entirely unbelievable, yet believable at the same time. I liked all of the characters we were supposed to like, and disliked all of the characters we weren't.

Sometimes though, I felt things were padded out for the sake of adding suspense. Sometimes this is okay, if something is added to the story because of it, but every now and then with this book it descended into rambling about something entirely unimportant and I found myself skim reading.

There were a few good twists and turns throughout. I didn't really see any of them coming, though one or two were slightly clichéd. One thing in particular happened that made me go, "Really?!" because of it just being put in to move the plot forward.

I kind of feel that once I had suspended disbelief on a few things (such as the way every single character seemed to have some sort of extraordinary ability/talent... though these were explained relatively well), I found myself thoroughly enjoying the journey. I just kind of feel that I shouldn't have to suspend disbelief. Either way, it was memorable and I loved the unusual take on your classic thriller.

Also, there are a few really gross bits, just so you are aware.

Pretty good thriller (I always enjoy female protagonists kicking some ass big time) and a quick read (it took me aprox. 2 net hours to read it). I would have appreciated some extra twists here and there to spice things a little bit more but it was entertaining.

I really wanted more from this book. I like the concept of a 16 year old girl using her wits to escape a terrible situation, but I felt the villains were bad stereotypes, and the pacing a bit excruciating. I'm willing to believe the audiobook may have heightened these flaws, but it just lacked the umph I was seeking.
