I loved the idea of this book but overall the execution was a little bit underwhelming. Things felt a bit rushed throughout the book, especially after the wedding scene. If more pages had been added and more work put into the romance/character development it would have been one of my favorites.
3.75⭐️ it wasn’t bad. Honestly I had a hard time reading this considering how easily and fast I read the others in the series. Overall, I think it was a pretty good ending to the series. However, I think that a lot of things that were included in this book could’ve been conveyed more precisely. It felt like it just kept dragging on. But still, it was a pretty good book.
fast-paced
I was wondering if they were ever going to call Greta to tell her it was safe to get out of the safehouse lol

I don't know what to tell you. This was a good ol' time and I am HYPED for Kingmakers now. Quality of writing has increased significantly and the mediocre moments of plot remain the judging point for me. It is not that I don't appreciate it, I just do not think this particular mafia arc is my favourite. As this is the conclusion of a series, Sophie Lark couldn't deviate from the original arc too much. What she did in setting up the next series did, however, invite much anticipation. So, my rating is not so much lower because of the characters but just circumstantial.
I do think this could have been trimmed in areas and the insta-love was kind of apparent. However, Sebastian's character has always been a bit softer than the other brothers so it did make sense (to an extent).

5 ✨ (endless stars to be honest!!!)
Didn’t want this book to ever end!!! And I have no clue how to ever fathom what this story means to me and how to even start to explain it.
But it’s without a doubt my new favorite book EVER. Heavy Crown is just so much more than just a book to me, it’s something more and I feel like it’s forever gonna be a part of me. It made me feel like stolen Heir did back when I read that book and it was the most accelerating, emotional and profound book I have had the pleasure to enjoy.
Sebastian and Yelenas relationship left me especially speechless at so many times where I was either crying, swooning or literally both speechless and screaming at the same time (I know it sounds weird but I was internally screaming but also unable to comprehend words out loud). Towards the end my heart was definitely beating a lot faster than usually and breaking little by little for both Yelena and Sebastian. The plot twist in chapter 15 took me by surprise so much and I literally had to put down the book and stop myself from almost hyperventilating because of everything that happened. The thing is that when I read books I can imagine everything that happens in it like I was watching a movie, so that’s why it effected me even more than usual since I was picturing everything happening as a film in my mind. Very overwhelming but in the best way possible.
Also a pleasant surprise in this book was how many cameos Miko had. He and Nessa was my favorite BB couple thus far and now with Yelena and Sebastian taking some of that title too, it was the perfect book for me, my two couples and especially my two favorite husbands working together! This book was without a silver of doubt on the level with Stolen Heir for me and the two books share the title of the best book of the series for me. The last book in a series is always the most special one for me because it’s the one that ties in up a little nice bow for me and for the most of the times makes me feel the most. That’s certainly the case with Heavy Crown, it was very hard for me to put down and let go off. I certainly didn’t want this series to come to an end and now I’m yearning to start her Kingmakers series ASAP. Heavy Crown is definitely one of the biggest recommendations you’ll ever get from me, this book is undoubtedly a must read.

Guh, just rip my heart out why don’t you. She always gives you a HEA but the rude there is wild.
“In Russia, beauty is for women. Power is for men.”
“My hatred for him is like a blue-gas pilot light, continually burning deep down in my guts. It never goes out, and it’s always waiting to flare up with the addition of any sort of fuel.”
“This girl is like a daisy in a field, while Yelena is a ghost orchid: exotic, rare, and impossible to reach.”
“But his situation isn’t the same as mine. He’s the heir, and I’m . . . the bargaining chip.”

Sophie Lark said I’m going to save the best for last, and she sure did. Sebastian and Yelena were fire from beginning to end.
We know very little about the youngest Gallo, seeing only glimpses of him in the other stories, but he was my favorite of them all. In his story we see this young man who once had very different dreams rise to be one of the most savage of the Gallo Mafia group. He was absolutely everything, living by the rules set forth by his father, taking no prisoners in his plans to dominate and seek revenge.
Yelena broke my heart in so many ways. Her desire to be loved, her willingness to have eternal optimism, even when logically her mind new better, made her endearing to me. Yelena is also one of the strongest heroines. I really felt like she was equal to Sebastian, someone strong enough to withstand the demands and sacrifice of the mafia world, not as an idle women but as someone to stand with him.
This plot from chapter one had me gasping in surprise. Even as the story unfolded and I picked up on the inferences, I didn’t want to believe the story was going to go down the way. It did, and my heart broke. I wanted the savagery that came from it, as well as hoping these two would find a way through the metaphorical bombs planted along the way. It had one of the best endings, and it set up the second generation so well!
The chemistry between this couple was amazing. Like Aida & Calum from Brutal Prince, this couple just spoke to me. We got to see them fall in love, find an escape in each other, and that translated so well to the physical connection between them. It was hot but also really beautiful.
This has been one of the best mafia series. Sophie Lark provided different stories and tropes for each sibling, but tied it together with the unifying love they all have for each other.
I’ll just be sitting here slowly dying from anticipation for The Freshmen, which kicks off the second generation series!
