This was really different from what I usually read, so I'm having a hard time rating this book. It was very fast paced so I read it quickly, but the topics were anything but lighthearted. The first half of the book I didn't really connect with a lot, but I got a more into it once our main character got out of the facility she was in. The ending didn't satisfy me all the way, but I was content with it. Definitely check trigger warnings before reading this one.

If I had read this as a teenager I don't think I would have been able to appreciate it. The ending has a really powerful message.
Our main character didn't need to be saved by anyone by herself, but the sisterhood she has with other young women is so revolutionary to me. Sure, we can believe she would have tried to get better on her own, but her friendships from the hospital are part of what pulls her from that darkness.
This book gave me the language to understand and describe how I felt about the things I experienced as a teenage girl. I never knew how to describe what I had going on inside, even now as an adult, but this put it together for me.

This book literally ripped my soul apart, in a good way of course. Because I’m a girl who is also struggling with similar mental health issues that Charlotte was struggling with. And that just made me develop more of a emotional connection to the character than the actual book. I remember that I used to forget that I was reading about someone else because I just felt like I was Charlotte. Relating to her in so many ways made me think that I was a part of her and she was a part of me.
