this book was just meh for me. it felt like a very standard YA fantasy novel, while also feeling pretty rushed due to being a standalone novel. the world building was interesting but i felt like there wasn’t enough of it, i didn’t feel like there was enough time to spend with the characters to get to know them, and were thus kept fairly one dimensional, and in the end i couldn’t get invested in the story enough to stay i enjoyed it. the romance also felt forced at times, though i was rooting for those two in the end, and the ending for them was endearing and sweet. the most ok read of the year for me.

Really enjoyed this one. The sister relationship was beautiful. Good adventure, world building was interesting, and plot was engaging. Just a fun read overall.
