Certainly a work reflective of its time, with the cultures of the world being explored and exposed to each other at a large scale. While I can't relate to any of the characters and the surprise romance at the end baffles me, I understand I'm reading this from a completely different socio-political context than it was written. I can see why it would have been popular in its time, and the concept is inspiring. As it is, in present day, it's just okay for me. Hit me with an updated retelling and I'm sure I'd love it.

It was overall a good read, I had put off reading this book for quite some time because of it's publishing year, I though that it would be very hard to read and boring. But in reality, it was quite the contrary, the first dozen chapters are very small, like 3 pages each, this makes it very easy to just pick up the book and read a little.

The plot too was very interesting and kept me engaged for most of the journey, there were a few parts here and there that did feel a little uninteresting like in the middle of the journey a guy just comes on the train and for a chapter straight, just explains Mormon History, that felt out of nowhere and frankly speaking was the only time in the whole book where I felt a little "bored". But overall, the book felt really good and kept you with Mr. Fogg throughout the journey. A pleasant read!

(france by rail) interesting story!!!!! travel. we talked about phineas and ferb in class loooool

Fun adventure story! Reading this really puts you in the era and shows the challenges and adventures of traveling in a pre-technology age.

It's also obviously dated and pretty offensive on multiple accounts, but if you ignore all of the social implications of the story, it is quite entertaining.

this book was very exciting and i loved reading every page of it because it warped me to the adventurous and hectic world of this gentleman and his servant. i thought that i would be bored by the book seeing as the last few old classic books i’ve read has bored me to death. now i can tell why THIS book is a classic!

It was interesting reading this as I could only remember watching the childrens TV version/adaptation as shown on CBBC in the early 1990s when I was a child. I certainly didn't know about the more grisly aspects depicted in the novel - some details were a little shocking, with mentions of cannibal type activities going on apparently in parts of India and so on.

It got me thinking about how different it must have been in Victorian times, or even 100 years or so ago, in terms of travelling and communicating, given there was no internet, there were barely any flights and so on. I found it to be a quirky and enjoyable read, if a little pompous at times, a little slow and some passages were less interesting but overall it was interesting and thought provoking.
