This was the first book I read by Tarryn Fisher and Willow Aster, and it definitely will not be the last. This book helped re-ignite my love of reading. Folsom sucked me in and played like a movie in my mind. I can not wait to step into the world of Jackal!

3-3.5 stars. I liked the dystopian aspect of this book. It felt very Hunger Games-ish with 12 regions and an “End Man” from each region whose duty is to impregnate the regions’ women in the hopes of repopulating the male species. The romance aspect of the story could have been better written. I felt like we didn’t get to know much about Gwen or Folsom and suddenly they care so much about each other after their first meeting when it really just seemed like they only cared about having sex with each other. It felt very forced. Tarryn is usually so great about developing her characters and I didn’t get that here but I will still continue with the series because it’s TF.

what in the cliff hanging hell

this was G capital OO D good my pals. i dunno what i was expecting but it definitely wasn't an "all men are expected to breed like race horses" scenario. i mean i read the description, but this was some whole other twisted bullshit.

and it was great! i think i've finally gotten over my aversion to dystopians! essentially most adult men became sterile at some point and there's only 12 men left in america who can BREED. i thought it'd be a creepy sex cult scenario but actually it was just really sad. guys going from town to town banging random rich hoes left and right in hopes that their baby batter will lead to more sons.

so obviously our dude folsom falls for a chick he unceremoniously knocks up. it's cuter than it sounds okay? but obviously chaos ensues and not everyone is happy about this bang bang happy love stuff.

and we get a cliffhanger.

overall i genuinely enjoyed this. i was feeling a little slumpy but this was fast paced, straight forward, and strangely poignant. the characters had real emotions and the world building was pretty solid in my opinion, ESPECIALLY since this is written by two ~romance~ authors.

that being said if you're looking for a good romance i don't think this is it. romantic elements, but more just a satisfying dystopian series.

Okay. I definitely read this out of impulse and curiosity. I even had to abandon my current read for this. I didn't even have any idea at all that Tarryn Fisher has a new book coming up so I was really surprised by all this "Folsom" talk. And seeing that this was co-written with Willow Aster, I AM SO DOWN WITH IT!! I love Fisher and Aster's writings so them collaborating kills me with curiosity so yep, I immediately dug into this book.

First, the concept and plot they chose is so unique, I still think it's super weird. THIS IS NEW ADULT + SEXY ROMANCE + DYSTOPIAN. Hmm. Weird in a good way, I guess?
The story focuses on the End Men. They are the remaining 12 men on the regions that help in sustaining the population and impregnating all the women. I mean, LIKE WHAAAAT? This is fcking sex slavery at its worst! Just thinking about the ratio of the men from the women is bothersome. The story then went from a lot of fcking to rebellion because duh, it's dystopian so rebelling against the government is a must.
I love the writing. It was so engaging from the first page until the last chapter but I still think that everything is sooooo weird! Just. because.

The main man, Folsom, was fine for me though I did not entirely swoon over him. I like Gwen more. She's feisty and she was the first one to give a shout out to the 'Society' about the equality of everyone and to let the men free. That takes guts in a society being ruled by lustful women who only wants the dick to themselves. Yikes.

Over all, I like it fine. It was unique and the strong point of the story is about humanity and the equality in all gender so that definitely brings some wake up call.
Can't wait for the next book!!

Successfully creating a horrible world that feels incredibly real is amazing. Creating characters that your root for from the start is awesome. Putting these characters in the world gives you this book that makes you want to tear your hair out and find the nearest guy to make out with simultaneously.
I loved it. I hated it. I wanted to grab the characters and run away with them. I cried. I laughed. This book was everything.
The only horrible part? The ending.

What the fucking, fuck, fuck, fuck?!?! How the fuck could you leave me fucking hanging like that?!?. Fucking fuck!!! I need to fucking know more about this fucking series, like right fucking now!!! FUCK!!!

I can’t fucking write much about this fucking book because I feel like the authors just started this fucking roller coaster of emotions and if I put too much in this review, it’ll spoil it for every fucking body!!

Ugh!

But I will say, this fucking book is what the fuck I needed after a looooooong fucking dry spell of lackluster dystopians I have read lately.

I used fuck a lot in this review because that is the one word I kept saying over and over again after I realized THERE WERE NO MORE FUCKING WORDS TO READ!!!

Fuck you, Tarryn Fisher and Willow Aster and by fuck you, I mean, give me more!!!!

Oh and if you have not been offended by the use of my fucking fucks, and made it to the end of this, READ THIS FUCKING BOOK!!!

The fucking end!

There were moments at which I thought this had promise. The ending was certainly not one of those moments. Waste of time honestly. This series got abandoned anyway. Spend your time reading better books that have a good ending.
