3.5 AVERAGE

This book pretty much picks up where the last book had left off. The relationship between Dustin and Cas is growing as they are figuring out everything. Cas is protective and slightly overbearing to the point Dustin feels hindered. They have a lot to figure out. I enjoy the world that has been created and can’t wait to read more. It definitely ends with a HFN.

The relationship between Caersis and Dustin is progressing nicely. Their ability to communicate effectively will be an issue for the characters. Caersis needs to do better at opening up to Dustin.
One thing about a continuing series is having the patience to wait for the next book. The first Fated Elves book seemed to move a little faster that this one.

I await the next book as their story continues.

**I received this ARC via Gay Romance Reviews for my honest feedback.**

This was a new to me author as well as a new to me genre. I never read omegaverse before reading book 1 in this series, and I've only read a few urban fantasy, so I wasn't sure how I would like them. Devon Vesper did a great job pulling me into the story with her writing and made it so even someone new to the genre wasn't confused. This is book 2 of a series, and you definitely need to read book 1 first. I'm grateful I was gifted both books when I was given book the advanced copy of book 2. I'm looking forward to reading book 3.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.

Lovely story! Casersis and Dustin’s relationship has been ever-changing since they initially met in the first book, and this one is much the same. Every time things seemed to have settled down, something magical happens (both good and less than ideal) to get both elf and almost elf to stop and think. I still really enjoyed the elves and magic in a modern setting, and Casersis’ son is my favorite character! Looking forward to book 3

I'm still following along with the Fated Elves series by Devon Vesper. This is book two in the series, and like book 1 [b:The Elven King's Captive|56829004|The Elven King's Captive (Fated Elves #1)|Devon Vesper|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1611639179l/56829004._SX50_.jpg|88847305], I felt it lagged in the middle. There was a ton of repetitiveness again and honestly I could only take so much of Cass and Dustin's mood swings. I was getting whip lash from their yo yo'ing emotions. If book 1 and 2 were combined and the repetitiveness removed I think it would be a solid 4+ star book. The premise is interesting and the world building with the different worlds besides Earth has me intrigued and wanting to learn more about the Elven world. I really want to see a reunion between Cass and his son. I also really want it to end up being a happy reunion so Cass can go back to living in his world. I've made it this far so I plan on continuing with the series. I'd like to see Cass and Dustin get their HEA after all the BS they have both been through.

Finally, some conflict! Too bad it didn't show up until three-quarters in and was resolved in so many pages. The issue of redundant dialogue in the first entry is present in the second as well. I also found the dates and other scenes far too drawn out—I was scanning through a lot of them by the halfway point. The dual perspectives became somewhat of an issue, because several times the same scene would be repeated almost word-for-word from Dustin's viewpoint and Casersis's rather than making their descriptions unique. I hope we get to see more of Erastus soon.
emotional lighthearted

I find the second book in a series is often lacking in the plot department. This book does not break that stereotype, and towards the end really just becomes a repeat of the previous book. Additionally, I felt like all character development from the first book was erased as the characters had the same disagreement again.

The book is well written. There is a small bit of mystery. There is an enemy they must face and lots of love. Cas and Dustin are great guys but often have misunderstandings. I had hope I would enjoy this more than I did. The constant back and forth was annoying. So many times both Cas and Dustin made a big deal out if a situation that did not call for it. Cas became cloying and his insecurity was grating. I understand that Cas has issues with being the only elf in their realm and that made existence lonely. I did feel for him at times but I also felt for Dustin. Dustin had huge changes that he had to learn to deal with. He had this new lover that he felt was keeping secrets but wanted his complete trust. Then throw in this wolf shifter that always shows up wherever they are just to be mean to Cas. Maybe if the book were shorter I would have enjoyed it more.
