It was a good read, and honestly, I might read it again (for spoilers reason I can’t say)It was my first Sanderson book.

Though I am not exactly sure what to think of it....It was very fairytale starting off, but got deeper into the Fantasy/Sci-fi as the book progressed. The ending was really good and I gasped out loud when I found out who (SPOILER) was.

The world Tress occupies and the language used to tell her tale are a breath of fresh air. The narrator was interesting and funny and the mix of fantasy and sci fi was engaging. It wasn’t too heavy while still experiencing real danger, though the final boss was a little anti climactic. Still very cute and original.

A very lovely and whimsical story. Tress is a very good character and some of the other folks in this book are very lovable. From the silent trade-master Ford to the boisterous little Huck, this book is chock full of fun characters.

While I didn't care for the gory details of vines through on and through people, and some other gory details- I did love the story line, and especially the surprising ending! I think the book could have been a little shorter as well- as I found it to drag on a bit sometimes. Otherwise I highly recommend it if you like fantasy / mystery!

The only straight romance that matters, actually.
This book was such a great read to get out of a reading slump. The narrator voice was strong and engaging. (And full of dry humour). The pacing was odd, though. A lot of build up and then sprinting through the final battle and epilogue. Regardless, I was fully invested in all of these character's happily ever afters.
A fun thing to do is reread knowing Huck is Charlie and seeing how down bad he is.

So funny and whimsical! I loved the absurdity mixed with the cleverness of the world building, this book was enthralling and I was forcing myself to read slower so I could savour it for longer.

This was a cozy, feel-good, found family, pirate, magical quest adventure that scratched my brain just right.

As my very first Sanderson book, I’m hooked. I loved the poetic writing and the way he can conjure such rich, and at times visceral, imagery. The audiobook narrator was also wonderful, highly recommended the immersive reading experience if possible.

A fun, action packed adventure much in the vein of The Princess Bride, this book was a lovely little snack that I couldn't put down! This was a fairy tale written for adults, and not in a bad way. I've only read the Mistborn series by Sanderson and his writing is much different in this book - quirky, fast paced, bordering silly, but still meaningful. At no point could I anticipate what was coming next and I was captivated from chapter to chapter with the next part of Tress' journey across the spore seas.
I absolutely live for the trope of a simple girl finding her voice, her power, and her meaning, and this book was a front row seat to all the whimsy, delight, and trepidation that Tress felt every step along the way.
This book truly had it all - a love story, pirates sailing the open seas, battles between good and evil, wit, charm, and so much more. There are so many audiences who would enjoy this book, but if you want to immerse yourself in a different world to turn your brain off, I couldn't recommend it more!
