I’m a little late to this series, but you can bet your butt that I will be picking the Midnight in Dallas series up. While this is the fourth book in this series, I didn’t feel too left out of what happened in the other books. I definitely think it would’ve given me a better experience, but that’s what rereads are for.

This was a cute friends to lovers romance, add some spice and forced proximity and we have the perfect concoction of a cute romance book on our hands.

While I loved watching Dallas and Katie explore their feelings for each other, I can’t express how much I loved the mental health representation. A lot of this book portrays Katie’s struggle to find a doctor who listens to her chronic pain and to find a diagnosis for why she feels the way she does. And my beautiful golden retriever, Dallas always attached to her hip to help her face her new reality every step of the way.

Coming from someone who has no experience with chronic pain illness, this was a reality check so I loved seeing the representation and taking in the learning experience of this.

Feels Like Home

5/5 ⭐️

Katie Kelley “bakes” the world a better place. Working as a pastry chef, she lives life to the fullest. When her health takes a negative turn, it has a major impact on her especially since she can’t get a single doctor to take her seriously. Her friends are her support, but when her boss/best friend gives her some unfortunate news, she crumbles. Good thing Dallas is there to pick her up!

Dallas Stone, the former drummer for the band Midnight in Dallas, has been lost since the band’s breakup. He plays a gig occasionally but he can’t seem to create his own tune. All the other band members have moved on and found success, yet Dallas is still waiting for his chance.

Katie and Dallas confide in each other about the changes happening in their lives. Dallas is determined to help Katie figure out what is wrong and get better. The two of them grow closer and soon heat up more than the kitchen. Once Katie gets a diagnosis, Dallas becomes very attentive and protective. Katie is stubborn and is determined to prove she does not need help. Too many cooks in the kitchen is a recipe for disaster!

Feels Like Home has all the right ingredients for the cutest romance! Katie and Dallas are a perfect match for each other and things get steamy once they get together. I did not realize this book was part of a series when I requested a copy. I could tell there was history to some of the other characters, but I understood it completely as a standalone. Now that I am hooked, I will be reading the other books in the Midnight in Dallas series.

Nothing sexual but I don't like the scene with the 19 year old popstar and how she was described.

This story follows Katie and Dallas as they figure out the twists and turns that life often throws at us. I can't say too much because you have to read the other books in the Midnight in Dallas series.
I love them! Each one follows a different set of characters. Main characters become supporting characters and supporting become the main. I love the cast & all of the great pets. I love the friendships and supportive relationships throughout the series. It's the perfect found family.
You have about a month to catch up & prep for the release of Feels Like Home.

Words cannot say how excited I was to get a super early ARC of this book! And I was not disappointed one single bit. I felt all the feels with this one. Finally getting Dallas and Katie's story was everything I hoped for.

We all knew that something was going on with Katie's health, especially after the last book, Long Way Home. Much of this book revolves around Katie's budding relationship with Dallas, and her journey to get answers about her health condition. I really appreciate Melissa's ability to craft these characters and their lives and incorporate these real life issues into a love story. It makes you feel so connected to the characters, like you're their best friend, and you want to reach through the pages and give them a big hug.

I breathed the biggest sigh of relief and maybe shouted "FINALLY" when Dallas and Katie finally get together. It's been a long time coming! Their relationship is sweet. I love how attentive Dallas is, and how much affection he has for Katie. He's got total golden retriever vibes in that he just wants to make the people important in his life happy and will do anything to go out of his way to help them.

Without spoiling anything major, Katie does get her diagnosis about halfway through the book. I had tears in my eyes because I felt like I was getting this news for my own best friend. I just felt devastated for her. But of course, Katie is fiercely independent. I love that she never wavers in believing in herself. She is strong in her mind, body and soul, and determined to live her best life. She goes after what she wants and won't let her illness stop her. I could only hope to be like her if I went through the same thing.

I felt ALL of the feels with this book. The highs and lows, the anticipation of things to come, the found family, and the just absolute love these characters have for one another. I 1000000% recommend this series (read it in order), and am already anxiously awaiting the end of it with Luca's story because I'll be so happy to finally learn more about him but sad that the series will end; I'm already not ready for that!

*I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I started this book around 11:30 p.m. one night and finished it around 2:30 a.m. I couldn’t put it down!

Dallas is my newest book boyfriend for sure! I loved the way he loves Katie!

The chronic illness rep in this made me feel seen! How Katie didn’t want to ruin some events that she went to with her friends… that’s what I go through all the time! Wanting to throttle the doctors that think they know all… I go through that a lot too!!

I loved this story so much and I’m so grateful I got to be an ARC reader!!!
