this was so good. i was spellbound and blazed through it. i loved how every story is so different, and the stories explored the many different types of love. the genre changes from story to story were really cool.

I listened to this on audiobook and feel like this is the only way to listen to it. I loved it very much. It was so interesting that when I finally got to the end that I found out the story. This is a fast listen at only 6 hours.
I loved how it was all connected to the island and how the stories all went together.

I found this book very compelling in spite of not being able to make sense of it for a good chunk of the time. I liked it way more than I expected to. Somehow I went into it thinking that this was creepy or that it was horror. Instead it was just an extended bit of the mysterious.

Have you ever had the feeling that you've lived another life? Been somewhere that has felt totally familiar even when you've never been there before, or felt that you've known someone even though you are meeting them for the first time? In a novel comprising seven parts, each of them influenced by a moon - flower moon, harvest moon, hunter's moon, blood moon - and travelling from 2073 back in time to the dark of the moon and the days of Viking saga, this is the story of Eric and Merle who have loved and lost one another and who have been searching for each other ever since.
This book is extremely unique and like nothing I have read. Its narrative structure consists of a series of interconnected yet distinct short stories that span across centuries. The underlying theme of reincarnation, while not explicitly stated, bears a striking resemblance to the broad concept found in Cloud Atlas. If Cloud Atlas and The Wicker Man had a baby, this would be it. And I am here for it!
This is a perfect spooky October read, with gothic themes bloodshed, a vampire, and acts of sacrifice. The author skilfully crafts a mesmerizing sense of setting and uncanny occurrences within the narrative. Layers of stories unfold (e.g., a contemporary archaeologist discovering an unexploded bomb and a cryptic grave, with subsequent tales gradually unveiling their origins), yet even by the conclusion, not every intricacy is fully illuminated. The cumulative impact is both enchanting and disorienting, akin to the sensation of having sipped the peculiar orchid tea that plays a prominent role throughout the novel.
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall of the Printz committee's meetings this year, because wow, they made some bizarre choices. Including this one, which took home the top prize despite being essentially a YA knockoff of Cloud Atlas. The book is told in a series of seven interrelated short stories, all set on a mysterious island where it is rumored that no children are born and people never age. Unfortunately, taken individually only a couple of these stories are compelling, and taken collectively, they raise more questions than they answer.
This novel is the weirdest i've ever read I guess, but in a good way.I love how this novel is based on an old Swedish painting, make it even more mysterious and different from other novels.I can't help myself from trying to figure out what actually happen as i go through every chapter,it's like solving a mystery!Overall it's a wonderfull and beautiful well-written novel,Marcus Sedgwick is a genius.

Midwinterblood is made up of seven interconnected stories starting with one set in the future and working its way backwards in time. All stories concern the strange Blessed Island and all its secrets. This was a bit of a strange one that I only picked up because it won the Printz and only stuck with it because the chapters were short. It was hard for me to see the point in all of it after finally reaching the end, though all the stories were original. I was most interested in the story set in the future, and I actually wanted more information about Eric's life and technology before he arrived on Blessed.
