A really interesting book that is around a love story through reincarnations. I didn't really get the whole 'vampire' and 'ghost' part though, it sort of diminishes the feel of the book.
I can't really describe this book. It's not exactly 'fantasy' but it's the most closely related category. It's like a folk story, but even that it's not exactly right.
I do recommend you to read it, as well as emphasizing how this should be read in one sitting.

It's definitely an interesting read and worth checking out. I loved the writing.

My advice: be patient, and pay attention... It all comes together in the end.

4.5. All I have to say is that was beautiful.

There was not nearly enough character development in this book for my taste. Not enough development in general, really. The conceit was interesting, though I felt I would have gotten a lot more out of the book had I read it twice. It's a short read. But I do not have the patience to read it again.

I wasn't sure what to think about this book until the penultimate chapter and then I loved it.

The premise was very interesting and I had high hopes for the book. I especially loved how the stories linked to one another and went back in time.
However I had quite a few issues with the book
1. There was no explanation of the flowers. Like only the effects of the flowers were shown and nothing else. Those flowers are always there
2. The ending was so underwhelming. You read a book where it builds up the ending and doesn't follow through on it.
3. I consider myself pretty good in English even though its not my first language. However I couldn't understand the book towards the end. It was either the language or it was me. Not sure which

Read for Librarian Book Group
This was the Printz award winner and I think I was grumpy when I read it because I kept thinking, "they picked THIS?" However, grumpiness aside, it's kind of a cool book which begins in the far future and works its way back to the distant past. Each chapter is a different era with new characters, however, all the characters are linked. For the first section I somehow got the notion the setting was in Maine, and was very confused. It's not set in Maine. Know that and you will be fine.

I really enjoyed reading this book, but I do feel that the ending was a little bit of a letdown.

The story is told through a series of short stories that takes place at different points in history on the same island. I usually am not the biggest fan of this style of narrative; however, I was so invested in trying to figure everything out that it did not bother me at all. Really for me, all the fun was in trying to figure everything out and may be why I found the ending to be a letdown. The author does do a good job at weaving hints into the each story and making connections clear.

Probably good for readers who like things a mysterious and about love.
