3.45 Good story. I like the use of actual historical characters for inspiration. It was good. It didn't blow my hair back.

I really enjoyed this book! I love when an author takes real places and people, and weaves a historical fiction through it. This book kept me engaged the entire time and I read it in one night.

I enjoy Fiona  Davis’s book because they are easy and
fast paced. I do like the historical elements of New York City that are the basis for her books.. This one as usual has,  I think some language that is not appropriate to the time setting. A scavenger hunt is part of the plot lines… from what I read Scavenger hunts weren’t really invented for a few more decades from the original earlier plot line of the book but oh well, maybe don’t think so hard when you read this like I do.

Finally got around to reading this @bookofthemonth pick from a few months ago. It was historical fiction with an art focus and a twist of scandal. This isn’t a book I normally would have picked up but I’m glad I got a little out of my comfort zone with this one. I tend to struggle with multiple points of view spanning different time periods and with this one I preferred the 1919 storyline with Lillian versus the 1966 storyline with Veronica. There was a plot build and the ending felt a bit neat and rushed to me to tie up loose ends. I thought the author’s writing style was nice so I may give another one of her books a try in the future.
