Fatal Remedies

Donna Leon

3.65 AVERAGE

His wife throws a rock through a travel agency's window. Shortly after, the owner ends up dead. Was it for the same reason or something else? This one seems just ok, almost as if it's paint-by-numbers, but not quite there.

Excellent mystery and characters, though it does start with Brunetti's wife acting, in my opinion, out of character and for no good reason. Once again corruption is front and center.

Donna Leon once again sends me on a wonderful journey of murder through the eyes and streets of Commissioner Brunetti. Love this series! If you are a mystery lover, this is a series you must read!

I really got into this one. I enjoyed having more Paola in this one, and enjoyed the fact that despite Guido is so upset with her and she is so set on what she has to do that even though there are these complicated feelings, they still love and embrace each other. On to #9!

I read mysteries because they're neat and contained. This one, not so. This Brunetti novel begins with a social issue affection Guido and Paola's marriage, which leads into the mystery, but not for perhaps a third of the novel. And its a foolish situation I thought out of character for a woman the author had always previously portrayed as extremely smart and sensible. The mystery, once it begins, is fine and interesting as usual.

Not only is there a mystery, there is the relationship between Brunette and his wife.

In Novel Noshers, Jenny read this series 8(?) years ago and now I finally read one.  I enjoyed this because the mystery wasn't too heavy.  It happened while Brunette was living his life.
