As soon as I let the book take over my attention the world pulled me in. The stakes were high and toward the end I was on the edge of my seat! Cannot wait to see what happens next!!

While the story is not my favorite, the book itself was wonderfully written with intricate world building and well thought out characters. One of the best YA books I’ve read in a while.

I really really enjoyed this book and Tarisai ended up growing on me at the end as a character. I loved the story, I loved this fresh new fantasy built on so many cultures. To me it was a beautiful discovery journey and I could tell the author put a lot of time and effort in representing each culture appropriately, making sure everyone can find a bit of themselves in it. I do wish though that we could have met the other characters more. I feel like I met so many, yet I barely know most of them and I find that each story, if delved deeper, could have added a lot to the book. I am looking forward to starting Redemptor and how the story will develop. Lastly, there were so many little hidden messages throughout the book that I loved. So many truths if you know where to read.

This book was good! Incredibly rich world building and interesting characters. But it also suffered from having high highs and low lows, which made it hard for me at times to understand how I felt about the book as a whole. Right now, I think I’m content with what I’ve read but see no reason to read the next one.

Enjoyed the world-building here, the magic and how it worked, the theme of acceptance of diversity over homogenization of culture, but ultimately it was too long and over-complicated for me.

A good, unique fantasy novel with great characters. I loved the female protagonist and her development was amazing. The fantasy world and magic system was very interesting. I do wish there wasn’t as much description in the story and that we got to see more between sanjeet and tarisai. But overall an enjoyable book and I would like to see how it progresses within the second book.

This is a great book! The world-building, writing, and character development are fantastic. The depiction of generational trauma and breaking cycles was well done. There are only two things I might have changed. I would have liked to know more about Tarisai’s time at the palace, when she was a kid still. Also, I have mixed feelings about the Kira’s romantic subplot.

Other than that, highly recommend this book!

Storia meravigliosa!! Solitamente non sono una grande amante dei fantasy ma questo libro mi ha rapito fin dall’inizio ✨ ho amato i personaggi, l’ambientazione, la magia, i colori che l’autrice è molto brava a far percepire in tutta la storia ✨
