Interesting take on Supes, but it still feels like it's been done before (not the Lois conflict though). The only complaint I really have is that yet again I have no idea when reading a DC book when all the events are happening within the DCU.

Awesome. But really, do you expect less from Yang?

I like Gene Luen Yang. But I picked this up because I thought it was the first part of a story - not the middle of the story I wasn‰ЫЄt aware of.

I‰ЫЄm confused. If this collects Superman #40-44, why is it called volume 1?

I thought it was a prequel to Superman: Truth. Maybe it is. But is it part of the continuing story?? I'm so confused!

It doesn't help that everyone is acting all weird like they don't really know each other. Is this still part of the New 52 reboot? I'm so confused!

But getting past all that, the story was interesting. The writing was good. Superman dealing with losing powers and with new powers. A new digital supervillain. Some good old villains. Lois spilling secrets. I'll probably keep reading. But I'm going to have to get the story straight.

I think that it would have really helped if there was a paragraph of ‰ЫПPreviously in Superman‰Ы_‰Ыќ I think I would have been able to follow the story a lot better.

Thanks to NetGalley and DC Comics for a copy in return for an honest review.

I'm a fan of Gene Luen Yang so I was intrigued to see this. I could go a couple of ways in critiquing the good and the bad about this story but ultimately I'm think what's holding me back is that I'm comparing it to my previous versions of Superman that I grew up with and are still attached to and it just isn't really fair to compare. How many times have I read stories where Lois finds out Superman is Clark Kent? And that his identity being exposed puts his friends in danger? Can this really compare to Alan Moore's Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow, or the 90s Superman run which led into the Death of Superman? Or so on and so forth.

Of course, New 52 has been replaced with Rebirth so...man I'm not sure I know why I'm reading this.
