I’ll finish another time. I’m reading too many books about death at once.

a visceral account of grief that was both physically difficult to read and yet impossible to leave unfinished. truly captured the voice of grief

“A single person is missing for you, and the whole world is empty,”

This book is the record of the writer, how she deals with the death of loved ones and how she copes with the grief. The fact that the writer loves reading, there are a lot of resources from books being brought into this book, so it felt very dense and detailed especially when it’s talked about the treatment that the characters had.

I love the writing style, it kind of reminiscing on memories the writer has with her loved ones, and the sentences are written precisely on the important things.

Such an emotionally fulfilling reading experience.

this was so beautiful, but also made me so sad. filling my mind is just thoughts of the losses of my past and the ones that inevitably have to come, and also how one goes on. this book is really special

was honestly a bit disappointed with this, just felt the writing style lacked much character and connection with who didion actually IS which made it hard for me to emotionally connect. the final chapter, however, is some of the most beautiful prose i’ve ever read. completely gorgeous. i usually love this type of book so i wonder if i just wasn’t in the mood for it this time. glad i read it
