Rave reviews on the back, but I found it quite dull. Not enough robot jokes or action.

This book was adorable and super funny. I did listen to it on audio book during my commute, but I think that the audio book might have been the reason I enjoyed this text so much. Frank Einstein is a smart kid. In fact, he might be a genius. Together with his best friend, Watson, he conducts many science experiments in order to come up with the perfect presentation for the science fair. He is staying with his grandfather that has come into some financial troubles and he's sure that if he wins the science fair, all of their problems will disappear. (The cash prize will help with the mortgage.)

I picked up this book because I saw a sixth grader reading it in class and laughing audibly while reading it. I had no clue what was so funny until I was immersed in the world of Frank Einstein and listening to the goofy robot voices that filled my car as I drove. I highly recommend this book for students that enjoy science but aren't highly keen about reading. I'm off to pick up the next book today.

Did I enjoy it? It was ok. I'm definitely older than the intended age range, and I don't think this was Jon Scieszka's best work, but it wasn't terrible.
Would I read it again? Maybe, when I'm older and have kids of my own. Just as is though, probably not.
Who would I recommend it to? Kids, probably between 3rd and 6th grade.
Any other thoughts? I listened to the audiobook of this in the car yesterday with my dad. He had already listened to the first two tracks, but I caught up pretty quickly. This was a fun book in some ways, but I thought that some of the science bits took away from the fun plot of the book. It's a good introduction to basic science concepts for younger readers though. I also found the robots really irritating, but that may have been due to the way they were recorded for the audiobook. Honestly, the best character in the book was Mr. Chimp, a chimpanzee who wears a pinstripe suit and tie with no shoes, had been used for scientific testing, and had taught himself sign language from a book he could see from his cage at the lab. He's working with Frank's enemy, T. Edison, but he's really just a chimp doing his job. I'm a fan of Jon Scieszka, but I prefer his Time Warp Trio series to this book, but then I'm more of a history buff than a science nerd! My dad also has the second book in the series on audio CD, maybe I'll borrow it to listen to later. I haven't decided yet. This was a nice break from some of the heavier books I've been reading lately though!

This is definitely a fun series for my classroom library and or read alouds. The science integration will be a big draw. The writing keeps up interest. The visual element is an added bonus. At the time of this review, this series can be found on Epic

I received a free copy of this book via Goodreads Firstreads.

I am a fan of Jon Scieszka's books. While reading I found myself laughing aloud. I enjoyed the robot's personalities. This looks to be a promising new series that my daughters will enjoy as well.

Frank Einstein is looking for the perfect science fair project so he can help his grandpa pay the bills. He creates two self-assembled artificial-intelligence entities. When they are robot kidnapped followed by a strange outcome at the science fair, Frank must use his intellect and science to save the day.

Some science vocab/concepts are a little advanced but both kids listened to almost entire book.

Overall this book was really cute. It was quick and funny (I loved the talking robots). And I definitely think it's something that kids will enjoy. I like how it uses real science to teach the kids (and adults) who read this series. Although I feel like when it came to some of the explanatory dialogue, it could have flowed smoother.

"Science is about asking questions, not memorizing answers. Failure is just as valuable as success, if you figure out what caused the failure," said Grampa Al. This book makes science an intriguing adventure for readers. Frank Einstein is a brilliant scientist with many ideas for inventions. When he builds a robot that can learn, they begin to invent new things for the science project. Things take a turn for the worse when his nemesis T. Edison spies on his invention and robot-naps Klink and Klank. Kids will absolutely love this science project/mystery/adventure! I can't wait to read the sequel!

Would probably go over decently with fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Stick Dog, Timmy Failure, etc.
