The characters were extremely alive. The author has some very poignant observations about humanity.

This book was beautiful, emotional, and at points a little creepy. Very Mary Shelley. I loved the characters, the moral debate of science and faith and love, and the wonderful setting made this story magical. Such an incredible read!!!

Such an inventive story, with an interesting style of writing. The reader switches between a more modern English narrative structure and more authentic olde English journal entries. We also occasionally switch between narrators. I enjoyed the curmudgeonly main characters and would have liked to learn a bit more about the start of their relationship. Jennifer and Constance’s love story is tragic, and although they did get to reunite, I was said to see Jennifer not have the freedom to explore the nature she so loved anymore. My main complaint was the insignificance the deaths and murders in the story were given. They were often just written about in a few sentences, which came across as slightly jarring. I could see this becoming a film quite easily

A book I would love to read again for the first time! A Botanical Daughter is a brilliant imagining of the possibilty of fungal systems attaining consciousness, which certainly makes a change from fungal zombies!

A beautiful telling of creation, found families and love, regardless of societies views on it.

There was a certain scene I think could have been omitted which makes itself quite obvious when you reach it, but I'm very glad to have had this as a kindle read for the amount of dictionary checking I ended up doing.

I'm certainly looking forward to whatever Medlock writes next, especially if it remains in the horror genre!
