I wish I could give this more stars. I felt so many things while reading this book and ended it while crying, goosebumps trailing down my arms. Not to be dramatic, but this is a book I could, and will, reread throughout the rest of my life.
حقیقتش برنامه ی ای نداشتم که برای این کتاب ریورو بنویسم و حرف خاصی هم ندارم ولی این کتاب یه ایده ی معرکه با نثر روان ولی پیاده سازی افتضاح داشت. روند کتاب اینقدر حوصله سر بر بود که حتی برام مهم نبود ببینم ته این داستان بالاخره چه اتفاقی می افته. کتاب راجع به دختریه که می فهمه می تونه درهایی رو به دنیاهای دیگه باز کنه و فقط کافیه برای اون درها داستان بسازه. می بینید؟ خیلی جذاب به نظر می رسه ولی جذابیتش واقعا همینجا تموم میشه. نه love interest داستان اونقدر جذابه که آدم به خاطرش انگیزه ی ادامه دادن داشته باشه نه شخصیت پردازی شخصیت اول داستان اونقدر خوب بوده که برام مهم باشه توی چه ماجرایی افتاده و بخوام داستانش رو دنبال کنم. در کل که ناامیدم کرد.
This has lovely writing and excellent prose but was a little boring to start. The general theme and overall execution was quite brilliant.

I love this book, beautiful imagery and characters. Such a beautifully written book within a book
This story is gorgeous and engaging and makes you (as the reader) want to climb into the world and help January as she comes of age and finds herself. Even when you have to yell at her in your head (or out loud, no judgment from me) for being SO NAIVE, you root for her to grow.
I continue to love Harrow's writing style and ability to create a world just a LITTLE more magical than ours.

Once again, Alix E Harrow writing something that has entered my soul.
It was pretty good but it took me most of the book to feel connected to the characters and get behind the plot engine.
This book was not my taste all. And half of it was completely unnecessary. Like too many useless words kind of unnecessary. The protagonist/narrator could have been interesting and her journey in theory is a magical adventure, but god was this whole thing so boring. It would’ve been DNF if not for book club.
