At its heart this story is about unconditional love. About a community coming together, supporting their own and looking after their found family. There is a raw honesty in the picture that Kathryn Nolan paints of where Dean and Tabitha call home. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about Tenth Street.
I loved watching Dean and Tabitha’s relationship evolve. I adored Dean’s shy blushes and Tabitha’s push for Dean to indulge and be spontaneous. The journey they both took separately and together to get to their happily ever after made my heart so happy.

As a Kathryn Nolan fan, I can’t help but love this story. It’s so easy to see HER in every word. This story is so much about acceptance, and being seen, and loving on people & community.

It’s so great to have such an imperfect hero. He’s awkward, and shy, and star-struck by a high school crush that’s come back to the neighborhood.

Tabitha is so cute in her own crush, her openness. I love the relationship she has with her sister and her father. And everyone needs a Kathleen in their corner!

ARGH! I'm not crying, your crying! No? Ok, maybe just me, but OMG how much did I love this story?!? This author's love of Philly shines throughout this trip of self discovery and second chances! I feel like I kinda love Philly too, and I've never been there! Only if I can live on their block though because they sound like they have a blast! Dean and Tabby are so special you won't want to leave them. I think this was the first bi heroine I've ever read, not that I wouldn't read about one I just hadn't ever sought it out but I thought this author portrayed the depth of what I can imagine must be the difficult decisions and realizations one coming out as bi or anything else to family faces. I just wanted to hug Tabby but was so glad to see she had such an understanding Dad and Stepmom and surrounding community and 'found' family. And Dean's mothers were perfect. And I pretty much want to be best friends with the whole gang so we can have kiddie pool and water ice and pork rolls, maybe even all at once lol. Such a good story, its been a while since I cried from a book, and they were happy tears! Bravo Ms. Nolan, you have topped yourself yet again, I miss the gang already!

Man this book was good. A woman comes home to visit and falls in the lap of a man she knew in high school. They attended a support group for LGBTQ2 individual dusks and their families.
Tabitha is a freelance film maker. She films shorter pieces to highlight ways communities are important and how to make the world better. She comes home to Philly for a summer before her next project begins.
Dean “the machine “ was a boxer at the top of his sport until he was knocked out in a fight and suffered a severe concussion and a lot of horrible side effects. Many people in his city are pissed that he walked away and he is struggling to find his place in the world without boxing.

I loved the complexity of this characters. They have a lot of things from their pasts that they are trying to process. Each one has trouble opening up and being vulnerable. Both are in their late twenties but have experienced a lot of life.
Watching Tabby unlock Dean was so beautiful. The more he steps into himself, the more she unlocks herself as well. Their spending time together is just so well written. Fun & flirty and sometimes awkward.
The neighborhood and all the characters in it make this story so rich and colorful.
Found family, great sexy times, and two people who have to learn that love doesn’t have to be dangerous.

Kathryn Nolan continues to write in a voice that is so uniquely her own. From the moment you open her book, there is a sense of belonging for everyone. I just enjoy slipping into her world and having a wonderful time walking around with her characters, and loving the community she builds no matter the setting.

Dean and Tabitha are adorable from the beginning. Each actually being the missing part of the other. We can see this; the 'hood can see this; everyone sees this but Dean and Tabitha. Our unadulterated book-joy is watching them work toward their HEA while helping others along the way—such a great book. Kathryn's heart shines in this book--do yourself a favor and read it.

Beautiful story!

I immediately fell in love with this story from the moment I started reading! Dean and Tabitha are childhood friends that reconnect when she visits home. They couldn’t be more opposite, Tabitha is outgoing, spontaneous and always traveling and Dean is shy and broody and their chemistry was off the charts. I absolutely loved their flirty banter throughout the book and the honesty they had with each other and helped each other heal from their pasts. The community was one of my favorite parts of the book, how they came together to better their neighborhood and were loving and acceptant of each other. This book was tugged on my heartstrings, it made me laugh, cry and my heart smile. I had a book hanger over when finishing this book I just didn’t want to say goodbye to these characters! This one will be on my re-read list!
