“Ordinary boy?”
“No!”
“Wonderful boy?”

The most enchanting of books. A cloud of fairy dust puffs out from every page you turn, taking you back to that Neverland in your mind you have not touched since you yourself were Wendy's age. My grandmother read this to me when I was little, and revisiting this secret childish world as an adult has only charmed me more. Peter Pan is so brilliantly written, as it is, above all, a fairytale. A bedtime story tailor-made to be told -- as a general hater of audiobooks, I really cannot recommend one enough. Beyond the glamour of magic and the thrill of adventure, this is the tragic story of the most misunderstood little boy there ever was. I love him dearly, and can only hope others will give him the chance to endear himself to them as he did me. It is impossible to travel to Neverland and not adore Peter; just ask Wendy.

3.5 stars. Had a lot more darker and stranger parts than I expected. Wonderfully narrator though, so I still recommend the audiobook.

Peter Pan by #JMBarrie is a mystical, magical adventure to Neverland!

Peter Pan is a classic that I have never read until now, and when I picked up this book for the first time, I enjoyed fully how well the book was written, and how silly too. The nanny was a dog? The ability to fly? Fairies? Mermaids? Pirates? This book is splash full of all of what you think and adventures needs.

I always loved the Peter Pan movies, and while the movies made him out to be quite a lovable character. I felt like in this book, there was a bigger sense of superiority to Peter Pan in my opinion. Peter Pan in some moments felt more forgetful and aloof. Though I sensed that he cared for the lost boys, Wendy, Micheal, and John, often times he seemed to just forget? about them. Very much someone, who seemed to be in his own world?

How empty he must be, forgetting and being the only one who doesn’t grow up. And how sad that we have no choice to grow up, and in turn we forget how to fly. Perhaps, in the face of Peter Pan we are facing the realization that we have forgotten to fly. We no longer believe in fairies. How sad it is to grow up.

I recommend this book to anyone who needs to imagine again, and to someone who needs to believe in fairies again.

Listened to the audiobook narrated by Jim Dale on a road trip with the kids. Jim Dale always makes a story fantastic! We had some good conversations about what some of the words meant at the time this story was written versus what they mean now.
