I admittedly haven't seen much of Geena Davis on screen, nor did I know much of her life. However, I knew that whenever I saw her or heard her voice, I was completely captivated. This audiobook was no different. Geena is honest, funny, informative, and, perhaps most importantly, interesting and charismatic throughout.

It truly felt like she was just here in my apartment telling me a bunch of stories. I loved it tremendously.

I love how Davis' mind works and how much passion she has for her job. A funny and highly entertaining listen that will have you smiling and binging her life's work

There’s a lot I want to say about Dying of Politeness, but the main takeaway is I wish there was something more to it. I can’t really pinpoint what exactly that thing is, but I just didn’t connect with this book.

A few things that stood out to me:
-Not a fan of her imitation of her mother’s voice
-Her mother, by refraining from having difficult convos with Geena, led her to be so vulnerable and put into so many compromising positions
-My favorite thing about this book, which I wish we could have gotten so much more information about, is Geena’s foundation that is helping to further equal representation in media and film

This was an okay book, but left a lot to desire imo. In some ways, I think this would have been one memoir I would have preferred to read instead of listening to it - which is super rare for me.

Really interesting to learn more about her life. I really appreciated how her the book did not focus on her marriages and relationships and they were more mentioned in passing as relevant to other events in her life. I particularly enjoyed the chapters at the end talking about representation in media.
