I read this book over Christmas break, and it was just the lighthearted romance read that I needed to relax a little. Very bubbly, very easy to read.

A fun book and a quick read!

Frothy, fun read. Looking forward to finding out what happens next with these characters

Reread a few months after reading it the first time. I think I picked it up again because I found that they had the next book in my library and wanted to refresh my memory. It was enjoyable but I'll take it down to a 3 stars. Wasn't as fun the second time but still a fun book with rich people's drama.

3.5 stars. Didn't have high hopes going in this book and because of that I wasn't disappointed. Had a fun time with this alternative book about, what if America and a royal family. A lot of drama and glamour, just what I'm after sometimes. Interested in what will happen next.

I felt like I was reading a Hallmark movie. I like Hallmark movies, so I liked this book.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would considering I don't really read cheesy YA romance anymore! It's a fun idea to imagine America with a monarchy and how things may be different. The little changes of American history (instead of the Louisiana Purchase it's the Louisiana Gamble, the King winning the territory in a card game) were an interesting way to have events still happen but with a monarchy twist! It also made me feel nostalgic for when I used to read the Princess Diaries.

We picked this for our book club as a lighter read compared to some of the other things we had been reading. Even though this was light reading, I still enjoyed it. I could easily identify with both the sisters in the book. They both had very different personalities and problems, but I felt that both were still relatable and likable. I loved the twist on our history, and it was a fun way to look at the world. This was a quick easy read missing a bit of depth, but still enjoyable!

I have to say that I’m conflicted on whether I like that this was written in four different perspectives or not. Reason being, it does keep me wanting to read on but at the same time, it’s frustrating having to try and remember what the hell happened to this character like many moons ago.

I’d say if you found The Crown much too heavy to digest, this could be nice, easier to get. Needless to say, I love Beatrice’s perspective the most.

I’m looking forward to the next instalment of the series regardless. x

3.5 stars but rounding up because the idea of a duke of Boston is just too fun.

What a fun, gossipy, romp of a read. I loved reading about an alternative American reality that had a monarchy rather than a democratic republic. To me, this is the very definition of fun fiction- exploring options and places just to see how they "feel."
The characters came across as very young, dramatic, and a tiny bit flat. I am hopeful the second book in this series flushes everyone out a bit more and adds some depth. I am also hopeful that Daphne gets a smack down, Nina gets a backbone, Samantha gets a grip, and Beatrice gets a therapist.
We'll see what happens.
