Cute and an interesting concept! An easy escapist read. My one problem was the many storylines - I would have preferred going deeper into each individual character, perhaps breaking this into a bigger series all within the same world.
this was such a fun, drama filled read! i devoured this audiobook and thought it was so good. i really liked that there were so many POVs to follow, it made the drama even more interesting and captivating. i will say that some aspects were super predictable and fell a little flat for me, but i still really liked it!! excited to read the next book in the series:)
Really fun twist on the rom com genre. Especially timely as I am reading Hamilton by Chenrow right now so it is fun to know the differences between what happened and this alternate universe.
I loved this so much! I was actually pleasantly surprised at the amount of thought that went into the alternative history of a Royal America. From tea being forbidden at Royal events to the Louisiana Purchase being won in a bet. Little things like that helped fill in the background of this alternate timeline without being to overwhelming in lord dumps.
The book follows four women: the future Queen Beatrice, Princess Samantha, Lady Daphne, and Nina. All from various forms of the hierarchy, but who’s stories are all intertwined.
Admittedly, some of these stories are more interesting than others, and when I started I found myself wishing that we were focusing on only one, maybe two, at a time. Beatrice and her story was WAY more interesting to me than Samantha, and while Nina is a sweet girl Daphne really dominated their part of the story.
In spite of that, I really loved how everything came together and you saw different events through other eyes and got a good look at how these different women in different stations are affected by the same events.
I’m so eager for the second book that I’ve already gone out and purchased it. It wasn’t the romance story I was expecting, but it was sooo interesting in other ways that I don’t even care. I love Beatrice and Daphne and want to see how their stories end.

For those looking for drama-filled relationships, this is the book for you.
If you are intrigued by the idea of an American Royal family, look somewhere else. This book hooks you with the idea and then focuses solely on relationship drama and not how America would be different if there was a royal family. Deeply disappointing.

3.5 Stars but rounded down for the rating. It was an entertaining book but it could have been much more developed. Everything was really predictable and I would have liked to see more of a slow burn on the romances instead of so much Insta-love happening. However, it was a cool idea to do an alternate history where America became a monarchy and to see all of the different perspectives. I’m excited to read the sequel since it definitely leaves you with almost everything unresolved.
