Quick and easy read. The author has a fantastic voice throughout the book. She engages a variety of sources to plot the multivarried timelines of these Greek women from their eariliest representations to their newest and everything in innetween.
The footnotes were especially useful for supporting Haynes' argument and personally paging through her sources.

Such an interesting book! I think I bought this earlier this year but it's taken me this long to get round to reading it. Natalie Haynes offers fascinating insights into misogyny in common retellings of Greek myths and seeks to readdress the power imbalance. I also think this book is a really useful tool for people just getting into mythology (i.e. me) as it can also act as a crash course into lots of well-known stories; think 'Greek Mythology 101'. I particularly enjoyed the sections on Medusa and Clytemnestra, other chapters I wasn't as interested in, but the whole book was well written and brought many myths into the modern-day. Very fun.

Enlightening perspectives on the little-known complexities of women in Greek mythology. Thoroughly enjoyed reading about Medusa, Jocasta and Medea; I wish I knew more about the other female characters to properly engage with Haynes’ analyses.
What a wonderful read! I have been on a nonfiction kick for a while and going back to the classics is always a wonderful bridge to returning to fiction.
Now I have to go and look for all of Hayne’s novels to read!
