Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*.

I have heard so much about A. G. Howard and her books, not to mention that many of my blogging friends have recommended her books to me. But "The Architect of Song" was the first book I've read of hers!

And was I amazed. Which one should I praise first? The background setting of the book? How wondeful all the characters were? Or the fact that Juliet is deaf, yet she finds a way to overcome her disability, despite the rules of society? (you really don't want to mess with the Victorian society).

Despite its dark atmosphere and the relevations which follow the book to the end, I liked how Juliet tried to help Hawk, even if that meant endangering her own safety. For a reason Thorton's name reminded me of "Jane Eyre" and even the plot had a tiny similarity to the classic.
The descriptions of the dresses and the houses and how hard it is for Juliet to be brave, despite her circumstances are the main points of the book, as also the mystery and the romance.

Despite having a love triangle, it's fairly resolved in a very quiet way you really don't expect. And some characters, despite being quite different in the start of the book, prove to be totally misunderstood!

I loved this series and I plan to get the rest of the books too! Not to mention that the upcoming release of A. G. Howard's is a retelling of "The Phantom of the Opera"! I really recommend all the books and I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I did! ;)

EMOTIONAL
such roller coaster of feels, emotion, hope, betrayal, an there's hope again
I can't even..
*deep sigh*
this book touches my deepest emotion, so raw and beautiful.

The way Ms. Howard structure the words, is so pretty, specially the last 50 pages or so, it's so beautiful to the level of touching my emotion. I used so many 'emotion' word here I can't help it.
The way she rhymes the title 'The Architect os Song' and her writing style for this is just..
*deep sigh* again.

Thank you, thank you soo mcuh A.G. Howard, for writing such story that touches my heart and existence ;;w;;

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL OMG, IT'S AUGUST 2017, HOW CAN I SURVIVE ALMOST A YEAR FOR THAATT ;;;;
and the description revealed that it'll still have some connection with The Architect of Songs character, their child to be precise
oh gosh, I'm really excited to read the sequeeelllll

Hauntingly beautiful.
I honestly thought that by the end of this book I wouldn't want to read the rest of the series and that I would have been fine with the way the story concluded. Yet, now I yearn for more!

Absolutely freaking amazing.... twists and turns and mysteries and shocking revelations and a love that transcends death -- *swoon*! I ADORE A.G.'s books (and her!), and historical fiction is one of my first literary loves, so this was an absolute treat for me. I felt every emotion it's possible to feel while reading. Simply stunning.

Original review posted on my blog From Ink to Paper

Oh man where to begin on this review…well let me start with I absolutely LOVED this book! This is by far the best book box book I have received and best book I have read in a while. I was drawn in the whole time and always trying to figure out what was going to happen and going back and forth in emotions along with the main character Juliet. Needless to say this story was unique and was very well thought out and written.

This was one book where I thought the love triangle was well done. I wasn’t like really freaking out thinking omg she has to be with this person or I am going to go crazy. I mean the likelihood that she was going to end up with “Hawk” the ghost was pretty slight. There was a moment where I was like well she could just stay with him as a ghost, but eventually those petals are going to die and he should move on. Plus I also felt that there was a connection with her and “Lord Thorton” from the beginning, even though he was supposed to be bad. Needless to say when the surprise twist happened (don’t want to ruin it for those who haven’t read) I was extremely happy with what happened. I believe that the love triangle was worked out well for all three involved.

I loved that this story took place in Victorian England. I could just imagine the places as the story took place. What a fun idea to have a little area where there are places for men and women to go to. Even if it was a site of revenge the idea was still great. Just imagining his little area where the plants and birds lived, and the star area was fun. Howard was able to create these images in my mind just from well she described them in the story.

I am sad that the next book in the series isn’t a continuation mainly just because I loved these characters, but I did love the ending and think that it didn’t leave anything on a cliff hanger. I would like to think that the 2 petals starting to sprout means Hawk might be seen again. I am excited to read the next in the series though and see whose story we are going to be immersed in and what ghostly experience might happen next! I also am looking forward to reading her other series that have been on my to-read list!

I have Read Many things by author A.G. Howard, this one captured my attention from the beginning. This book differs from Howards, other books mostly because it is not, to my knowledge, based on a fairytale.

I like Juliet’s Character, how tightly she holds onto what she has left of her parents, the house she grew up in. she, with the help of her uncle and mother, learned how to hide her deafness from the world. She is a strong, but weak girl, who owns that. She does know what she wants but at the same time she doesn’t. she comes off as a girl who is confused, about what to do in her life. she is a hat maker, a talented one. She works with her uncle, who makes fabrics. on the day they bury her mother she goes to a grave and sort of meets a ghost. This changes her, simply because he can hear her thoughts, and intern talk to her. she has not had this kind of interaction before.

The Ghost, Hawk, does not know how he died or why this girl can see him and hear him, and he her. I do like him but I don’t. he is compelling but everything about their relationship seems Toxic to me. He treats her with disrespect and taunts her modesty, he controls her and what she does threatens her and I felt uneasy about that. He is using her and calling it Love. I do not like the way their whole story together is written.

Lord Nicholas Thornton, is interested in buying the house that Juliet now owns. He wants to Marry her, knowing about her Deafness and still wants to marry her. he has a mansion that he wants to turn into a vacation type place, he wants her to come and work there to see if she likes it, before agreeing to marry him.

All this being said, my biggest problem with the book is Hawk and they way he is shown throughout the story, he comes off as arrogant, and not the good kind, he throughout the book also shows the signs of a toxic personality. He had no growth, and no real depth. That being said, had this changed I would have enjoyed the book so much more.

I'm not a romance reader, but A.G. Howard sure can spin a tale. I enjoyed it and was intrigued throughout the novel. A great break from my typical reads.

Not finishing. I think I'm pass this paranormal romance.l phase, which is sad. The writing is beautiful, like incredibly beautiful. I just couldn't get invested in this story. Or the love triangle. I wasn't much of a fan of the authors other work either though...

This is an incredible book. I was so excited to get this book because its by one of my favorite authors and its a new adult book. The new adult genre is a great bridge between young adult and adult novels. As someone who loves to read young adult, this genre and book was perfect for me. This book was so well written and such an interesting story that I read it in two days, which is something I haven't done for a while. I would recommend this series to anyone and can't wait for the fourth book to come out.
