I'm going to stick with a 4 star rating for this one.
The thing that I find about the ASOIAF novels is that most of the action comes in the latter half of the novel. So, seeing as this is the first half of Book 3, you can probably understand that there wasn't as much action as I had hoped. I know with the Red Wedding coming up in the next instalment, things will definitely get a lot more interesting. That isn't to say that this book was bad, though. I loved getting to know more about Robb and his Northern takeover. Anyone I've text during my reading of this book knows that I have an insane love for Richard Madden (who plays Robb in the show), so of course that love extends to Robb himself.
I'm seeing a different side to Jaime in this one, but I'm still not sure whether or not I can trust him. He is, after all, a Lannister. His interactions with Brienne are quite insightful I think. I'm appreciating the interaction between them, just because it's so unexpected. Definitely intrigued to see where that goes from here.
I was shocked to see the marriage that took place in this one (no spoilers from me). I would like to say it was unexpected but then again, Sansa hasn't exactly had the best luck in this novel. By far, though, I look forward the most to Daenerys' chapters; they're the most interesting in terms of storyline. All the battles and wars with the other characters can get a little confusing at times, but I never tire of Dany being a badass mother of dragons. #Dracarys

Stars: 4
Review: Well, this one took me a lot longer to finish than the first two but it is still one of the most captivating series I have read in a long time. There are certain characters p.o.v that I am not hugely fond of like Davos, while I like his character immensely I find the Storm's End chapters to be lacking in anything worth saying. The addition of Jamie's P.O.V was greatly receieved I absolutely love his character now, it really added a much needed third dimension to his character and I must admit while Cersei is quite a bitch I do love their relationship, incesty as it is.
Tyrion and Arya are still my favourite character's along with the Hound, I really wish he had a p.o.v at some point and I can't wait to start on the next one. I like to pace myself with them because no matter how long a break I take I can just easily fall back into their world whenever I feel like it. There seems to be no end to the twists and turns and as I have said before George R.R Martin is just such a skilled writer especially in his character development. I can't believe how many character's there are in this whole world but there is not a single one that feels two dimensional or lacking at all.
I could go on and on but I will just end by saying everyone should read this series. There is something in it for everyone and the characters will stay with you long after you finish the last page.

Much, much better than the tv series (which I loved), a little slow in places but this series is a marathon, not a sprint.
Ok ok ok I was so wrong about this series I bow down to George R R Martin and his dragons 😜. Just riveting from beginning to end and fascinating to see the differences between the book and the tv series.
Lordy but this was a long one. I think with GRRM you really have to persevere with the beginning part of each book to really get to the meat of the story. And then whoosh - you really can't put it down. I think standout chapters in this book were Catelyn and Sansa. I like Tyrion but some of his chapters had the somewhat annoying undertone of petulant child. And his constant surprise at Cersei's hatred of him seems to naive the Imp. Ayra is clearly the most typical fantasy character (girl, treated badly goes on a long journey etc etc). Sansa while annoying is very very realistic and I keep forgetting that she's so young. 13!
The best part (as always) is that no one is perfect. Robb Stark has essentially signed his own death warrant by marrying the Westerling and Jaime Lannister has become more and more intriguing. I've watched a few episodes of Season 3 on HBO but wanted to wait until I'd read all of Book 3 - i.e. have my own idea of the Red Wedding before before watching it in full technicolour glory.
I tried to leave this book on the plane between Rio and Porto Alegre but not chance. It's now a very belated wedding present :p

The first part of book three. As with the previous book, the chapters are focused on one main character, which makes it easier to keep track of people and places.
Still plenty going on, with fragile alliances being forged, and a fair share of fighting (although less big battles in this one, more small skirmishes).

this was so much better than the last book. so much more is happening, and i love having some of the new POV's so it is changed up a little bit, and hope to read the second part of the book this year as well.
