If these were my children I’d try to pawn them off on someone else too.

i’m not quite sure why i’ve heard people dislike eloise’s book so much when i found it rather endearing to be honest. i think phillip is one of the better male romance leads we’ve had in the whole series so far and although i firmly believe eloise to be a lesbian in the tv show she is probably not so much in the books, therefore making this rather sweet. maybe i prefer a more boring lovematch compared to the excitement of the last four pairings , i’ll never know for sure.

I actually thoroughly enjoyed this book! I read some of the reviews when I started it yesterday, and was like “eh, no, I probably won’t like it”. BOY WAS I WRONG. I will admit that I didn’t like how Marina’s depression was handled. It could’ve been done a lot better. I also don’t like that we didn’t get any Penelope and Eloise interactions in this one 🥲. Other than that, I enjoyed everything about this book. I love Eloise and Phillip’s dynamic works. I think they were really good for each other, and I’m so glad I picked it up. There were several time where I was giggling and blushing at the book. So, overall (and because of the reasons I mentioned), I give this book 4.75/5 stars, but I definitely recommend it!

Minor: Vomit
When Phillip thinks about his intimacy with Marina after the birth of their children.daumari's review against another edition

A bit of Beauty and the Beast, a dash of Sound of Music (kinda. this is its own story, but there are overlapping tropes). As a direct person with propensity to talk too much, Eloise is my favorite Bridgerton. Sir Phillip... could definitely use more growth, like this novel makes him realize how he's repeating bad parenting patterns but he'd still rather play wannabe Mendel in his greenhouse.
Also, until I saw the family tree at the end did I realize that the Marina referenced in this one is the same character we see in season 1 of the Netflix show... which makes sense for whenever they get around to Eloise (assuming a season per character, 5? Unless we squish this and [b:Romancing Mr Bridgerton|1859053|Romancing Mr Bridgerton (Bridgertons, #4)|Julia Quinn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1348559120l/1859053._SY75_.jpg|659482] into a season since their timelines are right next to each other and not a year apart like the others). I'm not thrilled with how this novel treats clinical depression (Sir Phillip claims he tried to make her happy, but we never really get particulars). All the Cranes need therapy, and Eloise is NOT here to be your therapist...
