While the premise definitely seems interesting and was enough to get my attention, it wasn't enough to keep it.

Let me start by saying I really wanted to like When Sally Killed Harry for two reasons:
1) A thriller about a messed-up woman killer sounds like something right up my alley, and
2) I’ve never been a fan of When Harry Met Sally.
But, unfortunately, something about this book just didn’t click for me. If I had to put my finger on it, I’d say my main issue was the chick lit tone that didn’t really change even as the things got heated. This book deals with some heavy stuff like domestic violence, but I don’t think those moments were handled with the care they deserve.. Truthfully, I was totally on-board with the romcom vibes in the beginning, expecting the narration to follow suit as things took a dark turn, but that never happened. In the end, I got more frustrated with the book than with men, which I didn’t know was possible.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

There are great aspects to this book. The banter between characters is witty and fun. The main character, Sally, is interesting and well developed. Unfortunately she is the only developed character and all the other women come across as the same person.
The premise was interesting - Sally meets Harry who swindles her so she plots revenge. We are constantly told she has a dark past but only provided snippets. This would have made for an interesting read if the author had flushed out this story line more and not added in all the other side plots. These side plots where Sally happened to overhear / witness four other women be mistreated by men and convince them to join her group, then they all agree to illegal activities for revenge was too far fetched for me to enjoy.
Overall I had high hopes given then name and blurb of this novel but it was a miss for me.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the copy of ‘When Sally Killed Harry’ in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley, Lucy Roth and Avon Books UK | Avon for the eArc of When Sally Killed Harry.
When Sally Killed Harry is Lucy Roth's debut novel and what a debut it is! I loved the play on the title of this book which was a nod to the comedy romantic film when Harry met Sally. Lucy Roth carries this on within the narrative of this book, combining a cat and mouse thriller, dark humour with cosy elements. The mix works really well. Lucy's writing style follows for this medium paced book and kept me engaged throughout.
I loved Sally, she is my type of vigilante who won't be beaten down. All the characters felt they could have easily been in my life at one point or another . yes, they felt that realistic.
If you like coming of rage books that have some great satire and not to gory, this is a must read!
This book was also narrated by Grace Blyth and I adored listening to her voice.. She suited both the pacing and style of narrative so I'll be looking forward to hearing more from both Lucy Roth and Grace Blyth in the future.
4.25 stars for story graph, 4 stars for other review sites .
