I honestly only read this book because a library patron said she felt it was more "New Adult" than "Teen" book (and I somewhat agreed). It was a struggle to finish. The characters are all one-dimensional, at least half of the sentences began with "I" followed by a verb, and often statements were repeated more than once. The book includes "insta-love," frequent references to the main character's virginity (as a sign that she's innocent, obvi), and a quickly aborted love triangle. Poorly written and dull.
(As a side note, I once purchased a book of Glines' based off of recommendations from BN long before she was a professionally published author, and I discovered it was poorly edited in addition to being poorly written. I can at least say the editing has improved and there are fewer grammatical errors than I initially saw, but the writing style did not improve one bit.)

This was a very predictable story but it was also a very addicting read. Jax and Sadie were so stupidly adorable together that I flew through this book. This was basically the first new adult book I have read and I have to say I enjoyed it for what it was. These books are not amazing pieces of literature, but they are nice light reads when you are in the mood for them. I definitely will be reading more in this series.

I didnt give this book a one even though i think it deserved it cuz i happen to like Glines other stuff. But geez this book worked my nerves. Who the heck talks like that? I dont know anyone that proper or annoying. The characters werent real enough for mex. In fact only Sadies mom was actually any good. Sigh, i wanted to like it
I loved this book and I'm not a teenager. I fell in love with the characters and could of continued reading about jax and sadie forever. Well written and a real page turner. Abbi glines is one of my new face authors I have also read existence.
I loved this book the first time around but it was even better with jax`s POV. I have waited what seems like forever to read this updated version and it did not disappoint.
I loved this because I love a good romance! Sadie & Jax were such a great couple and I loved getting to read about how they would deal with their differences. At times it was heartbreaking, but I really enjoyed the whole story. As much as it would probably suck to date a celebrity who wouldn't want a gorgeous guy to write and sing songs about you?!? Jax was pretty irresistible and even though they had their rough patches, I think that he & Sadie are perfect together. However, I also really liked Marcus. He was such a good friend and stuck with Sadie even though it was probably really hard for him.
The characters really drove this story. I loved Sadie because her life wasn't perfect and she did her best. I felt for her because she had to take care of so much at 17 years old. And Jax was not a stuck up, jerk celebrity. He really was pretty normal and adorable. A lot of what he did made made me swoon to be honest and there were so many good scenes. Like I said I definitely loved him! But, as I said before Marcus was a great guy as well (particularly the one scene in Sadie's room)!
Overall this was a great story and I really loved the romance. I love all the characters that Glines wrote, so I am excited to read more by her. Ooh I also can't wait to read Marcus' story! I highly recommend this one :)

So cute! A perfect, quick, light-hearted summer read.
My Thoughts:
1. Since the book is quite short, the romance did progress a little too fast for my liking. But I still love all of its cuteness and cheesy lines. *gushes*
2. Oh Jax...what can I say? He had me swooning and falling at his feet with his charms *faints*
3. I really like Sadie's character; she is a genuine, strong and responsible person. She's such a lovable and relatable character! I like how she doesn't lead the boys on or rely on them for anything.
4. Marcus! I think this is the first time that I wanted the leading female character to not end up with the obvious leading male. It broke my heart with what Marcus had to go through. But I'm excited that he gets his own story in book 2!
5. Sometimes the pacing did feel a bit rushed, it's understandable since the novel itself isn't very long.
5. My only issue is that sometimes the author went a bit overboard with the level of cheesiness.

The writing was clunky, the dialogue unrealistic, and the plot mediocre.
Still, I read it before going to bed last night. It was a nice change to read something easy—albeit a little bad—instead of all my uni books.

1.5 stars. I honestly should’ve stopped listening to “Breathe” after 30 minutes of the audiobook. It was at that point that I realized the story was a dud/not for me. To say I did not like this novel would be a huge understatement.
The “not like other girls” trope was written all over the book, the characters had absolutely no personalities, and the dialogue... I thought I was reading romance, not horror. Any time a boy opened his mouth to compliment the main love interest, I knew I would get the heebie jeebies. I should’ve counted the amount of times people called her unique or commented on how different she was from other girls because looking back, it seems like that’s what the conversations revolved around. And other conversations throughout the novel felt stilted and awkward. Teenagers simply don’t speak the way the author wrote, and I just couldn’t get on board with Abbi Gline’s writing style.
And don’t even get me started on the actual relationship. The two love interests called each other their “air.” Need I say more? It was a huge drama-fest and not the kind I like listening to.
