I wanted to love this. A book by a Black author with three women of color as the main characters is what drew me in. However, I felt the book was more about each woman individually rather than as a group. Yes, they have moments where they come together as "sisters," but something felt flat for me. The drama is the main point of the novel, the bookstore they plan to open feels like an afterthought.

Although it took me a while to finish, I liked the novel, but it's not a favorite of mine. I'd say it's worth a read.

Easy book to read through but OMG all the main characters were unlikeable😑especially Celeste and Yasmeen. The title is very misleading, the bookshop was only a small part of the book compared to all the drama going on

Skimmed the last 30ish pages cause the drama got to be too much for me. So first DNF of the year, and I'm ready to move on from this.

If this was only about one of the friends going through what they did, it'd have been a solid story. But all 4 made it disjointed and most things didn't get resolved at all.

This is a very cute story about four friends living their lives while trying to open up a bookstore together. They each have their own stories and chapters, and while I see the characters complexities I felt bored at times. A little predictable and some plot points/character development pieces felt drawn out. But it was a cute easy read
