I'm mostly familiar with Woollvin's fairy tale retellings, so this was entirely new to me!  With fun, bright colors, and her usual incredible art style, we're introduced to Bo, who wants nothing more than to fight monsters on her own.  The problem?  She's too small!  But no worries, she can easily find some monsters to pummel...until she realizes that they're actually pretty nice!  I'm not entirely convinced that this is as strong as her other work, but it's so fresh to me and adorable that I really can't complain!  Great for grades PreK-2.

Quite cute! A monster-hunting girl sets off to slay monsters, only to find that all is not as she anticipated. I love the illustrations, and the end papers will delight any child (especially because they change at the back of the book)!

Engaging story that shows why it’s important to withhold judgement of others until you have more information. Both kids enjoyed.

This is a cute little book about bravery and doing your own thing.

Bo's brothers want to go out monster hunting without her, but she decides to seek monsters on her own.

However, each "monster" she meets, tells her that they are not the monster, they are just a dragon, or a kraken, or something, and that there are worse monsters out there.

A good but not great story about bravery, and what monsters really are.

Good for showing bravery in girls.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

A delightful adventure that takes the reader through the Frightful Forest, the Sea of Secrets, and the Peaks of Peril in search of monsters. Bo wants to go on a monster hunt, but her brothers tell her she is too little. She sets out to prove them wrong and makes some discoveries of her own.

I loved the way Woollvin flipped the script in this one. At first Bo thinks being brave means catching monsters, but by the end she demonstrates her bravery by standing up for others, even if that means disagreeing with family.

Absolutely beautiful illustrations. I loved the color pallet. There are splendid details throughout and I especially enjoyed the updated map on the back endpaper.

A wonderful story that focuses on actions over appearances, and serves as a beautiful reminder to stand up to the monsters in our lives.

Perfectly weird are the two words I held on my tongue as I read this pop of color picture book. The cover instantly pulled me in. Children will connect with the unique style of illustration paired with a message of bravery and friendship.
